Your probably right...AEP is likely 'investing' this amount on their own free will....
I can't speak for AEP, but I do know many other utilities are being environmentally proactive, at a very high monetary cost.

Well, from your comments, you seem to feel that those in charge of figuring out the energy situation, lack the education to do so.

Coal-fired electrical generation produces 40% of ALL CO2; 66% of sulfur dioxides (acid rain, 33% of mercury and a toxic stew of other chemicals; and mountain top removal PERMANENTLY destroys the land and water. We are foolishly sacrificing our world for the fossil fuel companies. Renewable energy provides good-paying jobs that will not destroy the air and water, causing cancer, brain damage, ocean acidification, drought, increased wildfires and global warming. Let's get smart! There are better ways to make electricity -- and provide good jobs too! And in case you haven't noticed, the IPCC says that we've reached about 445 ppm CO2-equivalent. YOu know the heat waves we've had lately? Get ready, because there's more to come.

*Define "ALL CO2"

*Define "renewable energy"

*Citing the IPCC is a pretty weak argument. Many of the "contributors" to that report are demanding their "input" be removed due to shoddy research practices.

and Dunno, if you want to follow her argument literally, renewable energy causes "cancer, brain damage, ocean acidification, drought, increased wildfires and global warming."

Let's keep burning coal, it's MUCH safer.

Take this video for what you want, I find it exemplary of the insanity of the coal argument these days, and pretty darn funny:

If you would all conserve, I can use the power for my multiple homes, SUV's and private jets.

It's not inconvenient for me.

Let's see. The environmentalists need to figure out what they want. They don't want coal power plants. They don't want nuclear power plants. However, they also want us to start driving electric cars to reduce CO2 emissions. We don't have the generation capacity to produce the electricity to meet the new demand.
What do they want?
Big Guy, I think they simply want what they have... political power and bullying authority.

Why do the Enviro-Weanies assume that the current global temperature is the RIGHT global temp?? What if we are warming toward the right temp?

Forgot to add...

And taking paychecks at taxpayers' expense for doing little other than sitting on their asses and pointing out the alleged wrongs of others. Kinda like a modern-day Sanhedrin. Pay, you sinners, pay!
