It's hard to tell from the way the story is written, but, as written, it is doubtful a postal employee found this postcard.

The article mentions:
"The card was placed inside another envelope with modern postage".
If this was a "dead letter" found by a postal employee, it would have been delivered in an official envelope, not in an "envelope with modern postage"

Anon above asks "why else would it take so long to receive?"
Most of these super-long-lost letters are lost within/behind postal equipment. They are found when the equipment is moved.

Now this is real news. A postcard delivered 93 years late. I am amazed at how little the News people have covered this fascinating story. Personally this is what I look for in a news story, not theft, death, wrong doing, foul play, adultery, or celebrity pregnancies. I wish someone would follow up and uncover the mystery behind this wonderful story and stop looking for something wrong in society.

Not a conspiracy as much as a postage problem. Story must have left out the fact that the card was taped to a fruitcake. Those suckers weigh a ton, and the rules are the rules, though bet you could still eat it, if you actually wanted to.
