WE found that out when we were attacked at Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. Our military was very weak and new troops had to march with broom sticks instead of rifles.
You need to quit dreaming connie.
And you are very childish.
Bigger fire power? So when does it stop? Peace through intimidation?

Broomsticks I think were used in all wars actually.

Do you know the reason Japan attacked us? What was the reason Germany became so out of control?

Wow I can't believe you said joining the military is stupid! How about you go and stand on the front line and do the job these men and women do!! They have to fight or else these idiots will be here on our land killing us! You don't have to like it but you need to respect it! This is OUR country...... Love it or Leave it!!!!
<quoted text>
I really think they need to figure in the cost of caring for the wounded before they go to war. Better yet they ought to do what was done before Nam and have a war tax instead of adding it to the debt of our kids.

I tire of this mentality that it is better to fight them there rather than here. You would have to have a major major lockdown of this country and would still have our lives endangered. We are swating at flies just like the Romans. By going into Iraq we have opened a pandoras box of problems. You have now entered a blood fued that will go on for generations. You would think we are smarter than the soviets till we now surpass them in the length of war.

I would rather you standup and care for a wounded veteren yourself and see the true carnage of war. Standing at curbside every 4th of july and veterans day with a little american flag is not going to cut it man. Roll up your sleeves. Get educated on the subject.

Sally tea,
Seriously, could you be even dumber?? Why don't you head out to Iran or Iraq and be sure to tell them you have no weapons and you have figured out the only way we are to have peace is to get rid of all our weapons and see how far that gets ya! It's the military that gave you the right to talk such nonsense! They are fighting for you to live as free as you do!!! Seriously, what are you 10 yrs old?!

Read the Bible, God's message to us, and maybe you'll get a clue why things are the way they are and what is to come upon us shortly! You think it's bad now? Just wait!!!

Ah Caroline,

Isn't it strange that Christians have this "End Of The World" Scenario and no matter what decade discusses it, that group in sure Jesus is not only "COMING BACK" but it will happen in their LIFETIME.

How Conceited.

I love the "Bible Thumpers". First they have this need to feel SUPERIOR to the rest of us, and when you point out problems with the Bible's Logic, they don't agree among themselves whether the Bible is to be taken "LITERALLY" or is an "ALLEGORY".

"Jesus is coming and boy is she pissed".

Of course I'll wait, do I have another choice?

REALLY ?
"Dance with the elephant" wants a "figure on wounded" before we enter a WAR or CONFLICT?
That will determine if the "Cause Is Just"?

A "WAR TAX" is not a bad idea, but since getting ANYTHING done in Washington right now is....well....iffy, I don't see that happening any time soon.

You don't think we need to "Fight them there before we have to fight them here?".......I think that our presence has weakened al-Qaeda but how long after we leave do you think they will back up to "fighting strength".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_al-Q...

Since 1998 they have been pretty busy and getting more clever all the time.

I think that we should no be shouldering the entire cost of the fight, since obviously we are not the only target.

We should be using that "bargaining chip" to its fullest potential.

Just as we need not race to the aid of South Korea who may be an ally but doesn't seem so when it comes to "trade practices".

North Korea would not exist if not for China.

Also our "ally" Pakistan is less than enthusiastic about rooting out the "terrorist factor" on the border of their country.

The "Carnage Of War" is on Television and All Day News Programs. We see it every day.

We do need to take much better care of our Veterans, but we don't seem to have that in the BUDGET. WELFARE and ENTITLEMENT programs, NPR and PBS get funded and they need to be "dialed back" or eliminated.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/7412...

We you talk to someone like "C A" who served his country have a little respect. Iran, Iraq, Afganistan....they may be seen a lot differently to someone who has already "given to his country".

This is hardly his first RODEO.

Perhaps the question of what do we do when Iran or North Korea does get Nuclear Capability should be considered.

Or should we wait until we figure the cost of caring for the "wounded" first?

Hey what do you think Insurance companies do? They run figures thru actuaries. We have had enough wars to be able to come up with figures for wounded and what the cost to take care of them has been. You start putting out hard numbers and some may think twice before taking up arms
That will determine if the "Cause Is Just"?
More like to give one pause. As a country we really did not want to get into conflict in WWI and II. Cost had to be a partial concern as well as lives lost.
A "WAR TAX" is not a bad idea, but since getting ANYTHING done in Washington right now is....well....iffy, I don't see that happening any time soon.

WTF too hard just pull the trigger!! LOL
Well you bought war bonds in WWII and goods such as rubber and steel were rationed (type of Tax). Nam was the first war not paid by a war tax. LBJ decided to take (borrow)from the Social Security Tax Trust Fund. Then Nixon continued it. The genie was out of the bottle.

Look at how many incidents. We are just swating at flies. You cannot be everywhere with boots on the ground. You can never protect this country enough and still keep your freedoms. We have gotten into a blood feud. This hate for us will go on for generations. Iraq was a mistake. We should have concentrated on Afghanistan only. As it stands now we have been there longer than the Russians now.
Since 1998 they have been pretty busy and getting more clever all the time.

Good idea if we can pull it off. Bush 41 managed to have the gulf war paid by others. Rather slick sales job.

Different kind of world wide web!

Yes when you have enough for a day you turn it off, then eventually become numb to it. It is rather sanitized coverage though.

I see that article is from the Neoconjob Heritage Foundation.Well social ills can be tied to how we follow on policy of war. Cost of war affects cost of education ect. That is a much bigger disscusion. NPR and PBS get funded also from viewers. Frankly “Frontline” a news documentary program has won several awards for being unibiased. Fox and MSNBC are nothing but one sided outlets for our two parties. I disagree with those two but it is rather wrong to have them eliminated either. WWII veterans then would have fought for nothing.

Frankly I don’t know what “CA”’s creditials are. I have relatives that served in the south pacific in WWII and thought Vietnam was a wrong move and never got the full support of the public because of its poor planning. Some people just can’t wait to pull that trigger. You need to show a little more respect to the caregivers that care for the wounded for the rest of their lives. This country has to borrow the money to go to war and put it on our kids back. As General Colin Powell said “ You break it you own it” simple words of wisdom.

It's 20 minutes of air time between commercials. I would enjoy watching local news without weather and sports, of course. Nor, do we need to hear their babbling lips with national news clips because local stuff is good enough.
