Are we sure that spending a few million we can't re-habilitate these "GOOD" citizens ??
Other option for less than the cost of their lunch one round to the back of the head. No repeat offenders.

If all DNA test prove they committed the crimes and there are NO MORE delays, then why not carry out the Letter-of-the-Law???? It costs MORE to keep these 10 alive then it would to do what the juries and the law handed down! These guys have more then any person while in jail and the cost per person is supposedly about $250,000 for a life sentence each or $2.5 Million for these guys. I do not believe in killing, but these 10 deserve it for the crimes they committed without any remorse or guilt. They have NO MORALES!! AND THEY CAN NOT BE RE-HABILATED!

Putting aside my personal ethical argument against state sanctioned executions (i.e. the state can't guarantee that it will never be wrong, and even one innocent man executed by mistake is one too many) your own argument shows that the death penalty is ten times more expensive than a life sentence.

Since a "death penalty" in Connecticut is really a "life sentence", we're spending all that money for nothing.

Just politics. Some pols just want to be able to say; "we have a death penalty here - we support the death penalty". How many has Conn. executed in last 50 years - 2?

Solve the problem for less than the cost of a bologna sandwich,,, one in the back of the head. Death penalty should be fast and cheap.

Regardless of our differences about whether or not the state should be trusted to get it right 100% of the time, your blood lust "solution" might sound righteous to you but it has no relation to reality.

Reality is that "death penalities" in Connecticut are "life sentences" with a price tag of $2.5 million vs $250,000.

Maybe we should pay LESS for their care and food and MORE for educating children.

This country is DOOMED. COMPLETELY DOOMED due to it's misguided sense of right and wrong.

Ain"t it true Annie, it seems the worse of a person you are, the better off you are !! I was taught to live life by the book..... sometimes I have to wonder... wtf is it getting me ??? I guess a clean conscience , and a sense of integrity will be enough.

In China they used do the one round to the back of the head and then charge the deceased relatives for the bullet. Very cost effective.

Which is due to the mulitple layers of appeals that inmates can pursue.

And who foots the bills for this? The taxpayers of course.

One way to cut down on the cost, is to limit the multiple amount of appeals one inmate can do in the course of trying to overturn his/her sentence.

Except that ain't ever gonna happen in this state. We're just gonna keep throwing tens of millions of dollars at the pretense of a death penalty.

In view of the budget deficit we should do away with the death row solitary confinement policy. Double them up, two per cell. Pretty soon we will only have 5 inmates on death row left to execute.

Which is unfortunate, because it needs to be fixed.

The death penalty used to be a deterrent. Now because of multiple appeals (at least in this state), it's decades before someone (if ever) gets executed.

Funny how what states that either cry the loudest about being tough on crime, are usually the ones that throw up enough roadblocks to protect the criminal from the consequences of his/her actions.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Taurus

Catch up with the chores today, especially if you've got a long list of them and you want to get through them all before Christmas. You're feeling nicely efficient without wanting to work yourself into the ground, so carry on at a steady pace. A few well-chosen words in a certain person's ear will be more effective than a lengthy conversation at other times.
