I didn't vote for Obama. I voted for the only true liberal candidate Ms. Jill Stein of the Green Party. I hope you read my previous post regarding coal and its decline. It is dirty. We have terrible air quality. We will have to transition off of coal eventually. What it gets replaced with is the issue. If we don't take control over our own future we are going to continue to be raped by the coal and natural gas industries. In 300 years what will this place be? You aren't thinking about the future generations. You are not the one that decides who is American. I am a Native American, so why don't you stop the name calling. Maybe you should stop demonizing the other side and have a meaningful discussion.

He is something for people to think about. If the purpose of banning guns is to save lives, why dont we ban 4 wheelers? That would save far more lives than banning assault weapons so why are ATV legal? Riddle me that? Actually banning baseball bats would save more lives. Banning fast food would surely save more lives, why not that?

that's not true, but let's say it is. An ATV and a baseball bat aren't made to kill people. Flawed logic

The only constant in this short life is change!.
change can be good or bad -balance is most often included in the healthier change -to swing one way or another toooo far is most often calamatus/damaging to a positive social fabric.
We are not talking about social security or medicare which have been paid for as they have been already taken from peoples earnings..
But changing to a largely ,slovenly, uneducated dependent nation overwhelmed by children w/o fathers in the home -largely unwed single mothers often with multiple kids -many with no real education or means to take care of them-not only causes social chaos[look at our overburdened jails]-but also economic chaos as smaller proportions of working people are being forced to economically subsidize all--'these babies mommas daddies and other daddies babies mammas, etc, etc,
I am not begrudging people who need temporary help and use some welfare services to better educate themselves for a period of time. BUT-there are scores of deadbeats out there who feel entitled to sit home and watch Springer or Maury Povich's comedy of horrors while collecting more"FREE TO THEM" money for each bastard child they produce on hard working peoples backs. It is morally wrong for this permanent dependecy to exist for lazy people with little self control-[of all races]-it will exponentially spreadlike rabid cancer
This is the type of change that will bring the U.S. closer and ever closer to 3rd world type living..making the new majority[a sheep voting block] but ever truly dumber and ever more dependent w/o incentive to go out and survive on their own at higher more personally rewarding levels in this short earthly life,
This is change that will help destroy-this great country as we know it - from within.
Idea-stop rewarding poor judgement and horribly irresponsible behavior--THIS CHANGE BRINGS NO HOPE-ONLY AN EVER LESS EDUCATED LAZY POPULATION WHO ARE LIKE ETERNAL CHILDREN
MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA
the thing about poverty is though, it is a cycle. It's not something anyone chooses. And there's no upward mobility in our society currently. What else are people going to do if there's no one there to help them and show them a better way of living, their behavior will continue until there is change..in society. The problem exists within society, not individuals or even a group of people. and we all have to participate to change it for the better.

i don't think anyone supports families losing jobs or being driven into poverty. people are however concerned about global warming and all of the negative environmental effects it is having on us. Coal is not very clean lol

Our community is riddled with enough poverty, what would it be like if we lost all of the coal mining jobs in Southern WV? We need to find another means of production FAST! We need financial independence from the coal companies. If you want to keep coal around, we should at least take it and make our own $$$ let's get rich!!

<quoted text> But "West Virginia has more problems than just a ‘war on coal,'" he said. "It's about the physical properties of the coal that's left. The reserves are being depleted, and anybody that's spent any time looking at coal properties and reserves cannot tell you otherwise with a straight face."
Remaining southern West Virginia coal beds are thin, he said, meaning more rock has to be mined to get the coal — decreasing productivity and increasing cost.
More beds are split, with partings, he said, also decreasing productivity and increasing cost. Reserves are in relatively small, scattered blocks, in rugged terrain where it's difficult to achieve the efficiencies of a single mining complex where everything feeds into the same preparation plant.
"There's a lot of inherent, basically physical, attributes of the coal reserves that remain in southern West Virginia that cause these problems," Staggs said after speaking at a Platts coal conference.
Steam coal, used to produce electricity, also has been affected by competition from recently and persistently cheap natural gas, he said — but he doesn't believe higher natural gas prices and a return of the market for steam coal will help the coal industry in this part of the country.
"Southern West Virginia simply has its own set of problems having to do with the nature of its coal deposits," he said. "All these other things are just layered on top of that."
Stagg decried the use of "war on coal" rhetoric for political gain.
"What bothers me, in West Virginia, is this jumping on the bandwagon that ‘We will help stop the war on coal,' which gives the population the false impression that if we could just change the administration or rein in the EPA, we could bring our industry back," he said.
"It'll never come back like it was," he said. "And people don't make good decisions if they think it will — whether it's politicians, or legislators, or business people, or the average man or woman on the street. If I'm a coal miner in Boone County, I might think I'm going to ride this out — take my savings, hunker down like I've done before, like my daddy did before, until it comes back. That's not a good decision."
It's not about Democrats or Republicans, Obama or not Obama, he said.
"There are things that are. This is the way it is."

this is a very big problem for the coal fields. They are gonna freak out when they wake up.

It isnt true? Really? Guns are not made to kill people, millions of guns never kill anyone. A gun is comparable to a baseball bat for sure. Both can be used to kill someone, but doesnt mean that is what they were "made" for. And if the real goal is to save lives than the ATV comparison is also accurate. Far more people are killed each year on ATV's than killed by "assault" weapons. Certainly banning fast food would save MANY lives. I think you dont want to admit the truth so you say the logic is flawed. The truth is you just want to take away other peoples rights(guns) because it isnt a right you personally care about. Slippery slope my friend. Maybe you should move to NY and then you can be told what you can own and how big of soft drink you are allowed to purchase.

Why even try to have a conversation with you? You obviously don't use true logic. You can't see that a baseball bat is used to play baseball and a gun is used to kill things or practice killing things. You little peckered Republicans just hold on to your big black guns aka your penis.

I am a democrat ya dumba$$. You simply are illogical. Millions of people use guns for things other than killing or practicing killing. They shoot for fun, competition, etc. SOme people like playing baseball, I like shooting guns. You are the kinda person who only cares about YOUR rights. You are a disgrace to the principles of the USA.

First they came for the guns,
and I didn't speak out because I personally wasn't a gun
enthusiast.

Then they came for the large soft drinks,
and I didn't speak out because I personally dont like soda.

Then they came for cigarettes,
and I didn't speak out because I personally dont smoke.

Then they came for a right/freedom I do personally want,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

First they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

Then they came for the Jews,

Those kids that were killed had a right to live life that was taken from them. Maybe we should all suffer a little bit. And anytime you train on a weapon, no matter what your target is, it is essentially practice should you ever need to shoot anyone. Right? And I love how Republicans think they own "American". I am actually concerned with the lives of our fellow citizens, and you are concerned about keeping an assault rifle. I think I am a better American than you could ever dream of being.

I am concerned about keeping my country free and protecting rights, you know the rights that thousands of Americans have died to protect! Those that would trade liberty for temporary security deserve NEITHER!~Ben Franklin.
If you are so concerned about your fellow citizens, why not ban 4 wheelers? Many people are killed every year on them, including many children. Where I live I know of many people killed and injured from ATV,s. I have never heard of anyone being killed by an assault rifle. By not protecting all peoples rights equally you are being very un-American. It shouldnt matter if you like guns or not, it is a Constitutional right and your duty to protect.

. I'm sorry do we not have regulations on ATVs? Do we not regulate cars, and prescription drugs? Why would an assault weapons ban infringe on your rights anymore than not being able to own grenade launchers or bombs? It's a very serious issue that needs addressed by those of us with an IQ over 100. You love guns more than you care about murdered children. You want to throw up your hands and do nothing. We'll see what happens. Hopefully the dens in this country grow a pair.

The new bill bans rifles and hand guns too. It's not about citizens safety, it's about government gaining more control.

The ignorant sheep don't care about their rights, they just want the government to be their daddy and tell them what to eat, what to drink and what toys to play with.
