We are always asked by patients whether or not their DePuy hip implant is part of the hip recall. Not all of DePuy’s products are being recalled. At this stage, the only DePuy Hip Implant which is subject to the recall in the United States is the ASR XL Acetabular hip system. These hip replacement systems first became available in the summer of 2003 and were in use for approximately seven (7) years

To make it clear, not all hip implants from DePuy are recalled, only the ASR XL Acetabular hip system has been. However, if you have been using the DePuy Pinnacle Hip Replacement and is experiencing complications, you might want to check for recall updates and possible lawsuit against its manufacturer here http://www.depuypinnaclelawsuit.com/ now!

The DePuy ASR hip prostheses which are the ASR™ XL Acetabular System and DePuy ASR™ Hip Resurfacing System were recalled last August 24, 2010. The DePuy Pinnacle hip devices has not been issued with a recall. http://www.hiprecalllaw.com

Yes. Last August 2010, the DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson, has announced a worldwide recall of two of its hip replacement systems, the ASR XL Acetabular System and the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing Platform. Patients who've had these devices have reported experiencing pain, swelling and difficulty walking. There have been also reports of metallosis. Because of the DePuy hip replacement recall, those advised to undergo the surgery should do extensive research first aside from doctor's consultation. I've come across this website http://www.depuyhipreplacementlawsuit.com which explained that DePuy had designed a shallower cup and removed the plastic liner from the inside of the implant to allow patients a wider range of motion. However, the friction of the ball portion of the hip implant against the socket wears away cobalt and chromium particles from the device and into the soft tissue around the area leading to several problems, one of them metallosis.

Yes, two of the hip implants of DePuy Orthopedic, a unit of Johnson and Johnson was being recalled in 2010 due to several complains for being defective. To know more about the case, log in to www.depuyhiprecallcenter.com

No, only two of its hip implants were being recalled: the ASR Hip Resurfacing System and the ASR XL Acetabular System. The defective replacement hip units have been recalled because one in eight patients requires a second invasive procedure to correct the first one. The replacement hips just don’t fit the way they’re supposed to. Many orthopedic doctors believe that the units were poorly designed. At least one surgeon has testified that the unit he removed from a patient had failed catastrophically.
