How much money has the PD made from seized and impounded cars?

I know the OPD, has for the first time in 17 years,(now that the convict mullins is out of office)is impounding and seizing cars from drunk drivers and those caught driving with drugs (the non legal kind) we've had at least one auction, and I have seen a number of cars sitting in our impound lot. How much money has the PD made off this? BTW, the impound lot, the only one we've ever had is located in the Sewer treatment plant's compound. I'm very happy we are now inforcing the law, and not driving home drunks, or taking a few dollars to let the criminals go, as we did under the mullins years. We didn't even have an impound lot in those days! In fact, a lot of the low life scum, those that supported mullins gave all kinds of stupid reasons why our police should not enforce the law -when it came to drug dealers, meth lab operators, and drunk drivers.
All the money the PD is making goes to the PD for the purchase of equipment etc., money the tax payers do not need to come up with. Thanks Mayor Ferguson for hiring a professional Chief of Police, and standing behind honest, the law applies to all-law enforcement.

Good News you need to get away from the sheep and start telling the truth!
Yeppers! And as the guy mentioned earlier in a post all this so-called extra money is going for nothing but the "geek-squad" paint jobs at 1500 a pop on the squad cars. New strobe bar lights. Machine guns. Sniper rifles. Grenades. High Risk entry equipment. Tactical entry vehicle.

I didn't know Oakland was such a dangerous assed place to live!

Ferguson got tranparent alright...you Oakland fools are about to take 4 steps back to 1989. It's already happeneing with the boarded up businesses, tall weeds, vacant abandoned lots, junk cars for sale on the highway.

I suppose Ferguson's lawyers need to get paid out of the general fund....right?

No one thought West Memphis was a dangerous place but two officers were killed.
I hope Chief Jewell buys his officers everything they need to protest the citizens and themselves. You need ck the price of the paint jobs. I was told it was only 500 per car. The fleets of cars will all look the same and very professional. I don't think you people will ever find anything good to say about the new administration. Have a good day.

I-40 drug interdiction was and is dangerous, not West Memphis.

I guess we'll buy M-60's next to guard the elementary school cafeteria during lunch hour.
Okay by me, just don't raise my taxes for nonsense non-essential items like "geek squad" paint jobs.

Use the money for parks, roads, utilities and other essentials to improve the quality of life.
Install the school speed limit signs and lights back on 64 for those kids who walk to school. Cut the weeds on 64. Haul off the junk cars for sale parked on the side of the road on the west end, before somebody gets rear ended and killed!

Get some UHF radioes, NCIC link ups, TIES links, Mobile AFIS systems, License scanning equipment!

Paint jobs in LA 2 tone or Shriner Clown Car colors are the first sign of inefficiency!

If the PD is paying for its equipment out of money they have gotten from impoundind and seizing drug runners cars, DUI car, etc.(something mullins never allowed, he even protected meth labs) I am all for it! This does not cost the tax payers a dime, why complain? The police know what they need, remember we now have a professional police officer. Our police should be trained on equipment they may not need now, but may need in the future. Also, if they are ever needed to assist other deptartments in an emergency, as our fire dept. does, being trained and having like equipment is a very smart move. Again it cost us nothing, as it comes from drug runners. I can't imagine why any of the fools that like to complain about the great way the city is now being run, can complain about this. I believe it is because they and their friends are the ones having their cars impounded, with drugs and/or DUIs, for the rest of us, Keep up the Good Work Chief Jewell!
Remember, this money comes from drug runners, not tax payers, why would taxes go up? This keeps taxes down. I think mullins was partially correct when he stated on TV, "There is a lot of Scum in this town", he stated this while standing under the Oakland town sign. I say partially, as I don't think we have a lot of scum, we have a little, you read their (or his) posts on here quite frequently.
He uses vulgarity, weird sexual innuendo, and racial slurs. He is a faithful follower of bill mullins/bobbie tisdale and still can't get over their convictions.

I saw some a couple of Barlette police cars today, their new black and white color scheme looks good, it appears to be the same one we are using on our cars. It looks like many of the professional police depts. are going back to the black and white for their patrol cars. I'm glad we are keeping up, and the fact that our cars are being painted with drug runner, and drunk drivers money, saving the tax payer those funds, makes it even better!

You need to go over the opd's budget just one more time. You missed something very important-----they are over budget already!

I have gone over the OPD budget, line for line, they are not over budget, not by a long shot. You may have trouble understanding a budget, but in simple terms, the total amount of money allocated to a dept. is not allocated as 1/12 per month, but rather allocated based on specified needs. For example, the dept does not recieve money 1/12 at a time for a new car, that would be 100% of that purchase that month, as a new car would be be purchased every month, that month may appear to those that do not understand budgets, to be way over, but as it was planned for in the total yearly budget, the annual budget would still be on track. Sorry, but you are off, big time on this. In fact, the PD's budget does not account for any drug fund money from seized cars etc., these funds in fact offset some budgetary requirements. I don't know where you are getting your info, they are wrong. The budgetary process is new to Oakland, until Mayor Ferguson, our town did not operate with a fixed, or reviewable budget, it operated pretty much as bill mullins wanted to spend money, end of question. He was able to get away with this, as long as he had two aldermen that would go along with anything and everything he said, that would be evans and maggie powers. They voted with mullins 100% of the time. Maybe your source of info is confused, as just because they may work in city hall, if they worked there for 17 years under uncle bill, they still wouldn't know anything about budgets, as they never did any, followed any, or prepared any-prior to the expenses.

Money made from the sale of seized property or money seized can only be used for certian things. Not sure but I don't think it can be added to the general fund by state and federal law. Might be wrong but I think this is correct.

My understanding is that money siezed,or money made from seizures (dui, drug cars, drug money etc.) can't be added to the general fund. It is suppose to be used for police equipment that helps fight drug crime. This can be cars, general police equipment, radios for the police etc. These are things that would have to be paid for out of the general fund if theses monies were not available out of the drug fund, therefore: there are a 100% offset of cost. Everytime a police car for example is purchased with drug funds, this is a police car that doesn't need to be purchased from the general fund. This really increases the ability of a given dept to enforce the law, first class equipment makes a difference, and costs the town zero, in fact saves the town a pile of money. I am really glad we have a police chief that is going after the drug runners and dui's, we haven't had real law enforcement in Oakland for the 17 years prior to Mayor Ferguson's election. mullins had a deal with the drug dealers, and almost never enforced any dui's in this town. The reserves primary duty was to protect dui's in Oakland, driving them home when necessary, but not arresting them! Drunk driver kill.
