Hey. What was all this bruhaha people were posting regarding Chief Hess being fired over the murder investigation? The Saturday edition of the Indiana Gazette said nothing to that effect. Only that the Chief questioned some improprieties and suddenly he is fired? Sounds a bit fishy to me. I say reinstate him with full back pay, compensatory damages, etc. Restore his good name and character. GO CHIEF HESS!

Wait until the taxes go up (again) if the law suit is won by Hess. Then maybe the counsel will find out what the correct procedures are before acting out on a role call, the man wasn't even there. The decision was not based on what the community wanted or was the community even asked what they thought on the matter (again). And what goes on in those close doors sections? I thought there were certain procedures for those, I forgot who follow procedures. Will have to wait and see what happens but if Hess wins I believe the payout should be divided equally among all the counsel members that way the community is not pentalized for poor decision making.

They need to fire all members involved in this idiotic act. I bet Hess would settle the lawsuit if everyone else was fired. Boycott Lamantia what a bully!! Lets start a petition to remove these people from office.

I agree fire the board. They know nothing about procedures or policies. They got rid of the best thing that ever happened to Blairsville. Fire Lydic from the force while you are at it!

The Blairsville community needs to get out vote to get new counsel members this time. Thre will be people running as writes in and they be will asking everyone for there support. Then maybe will get some transprency on issues at hand instead of close door sessions. I believe every ward will be represented by at least one new candiate. So get the word out to all who can make a difference, lets break up the monopoly of personalized decision making. Lets make Blairsville better.

Blairsville needs to get involved in its community government. Its like it is in its own bubble. For example, why would a counsel member be permitted to be on counsel when the spouse is on the Blairsville P.D.? Conflict of interest maybe? That is just one of many quesitions that should be addressed. Another is why is the brough manager running the schdule of the Blairsville P.D. when it is the responsibility of the mayor in absence of a chief of police? The lack of checks and balances is long overdue . The ability for anyone to ask the quesition why is gone. The ability not to get answers is common practice. This why we need new members on counsel who respect and represent the people that reside in Blairsville.

I hope you have a standing room only crowd tonight!I can only wonder who else will be making statements regarding Chief Hess that have nothing to do with the issue at hand? REINSTATE HESS! Fire SOME of those board members and take back your town!
Just a comment over how Daugherty delivered the news to Hess...how chicken to do it over the phone! Maybe you also need a new solicitor, too? One less jaded, perhaps?

wish I could...but dinner with friends tonight. Let us know how it goes though. We will all be keeping our fingers crossed the Hess gets his job back and the rats slither out of that meeting and never look back. What kind of council intimidates people? locks them out of their offices? Threatens and harasses women? BRUTES!
Seems to be quite a bit of that crap going on county wide. Good old fashioned house cleaning is in order!
PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES! We are all waiting! GOOD LUCK CHIEF HESS! Take back the night & the town!

Well..I hope he gets the media attention he deserves and it helps get him his job back. And, I hope they kick those council members to the curb and some better qualified people get on the board.

Well, judging by last nights paper, some residents had the good sense to at least show up at Tuesday's meeting. And, it is good to see that a few of you got to speak your minds and give Chief Hess the backing he deserves from the residents that know that he is the man for the job!
I have to wonder why Dougherty wouldn't "address the issues in the media"? What is there to hide? Why can't you talk about it with the media present?
I hope HESS gets his wishes and gets the reinstatement he deserves.
Also, I am just wondering this? Why, if the council is so upset over the BIG project and Hess's doing the right thing and calling for an audit, are "certain people being called in to give statements that have nothing to do with that part of it?

Everyone listed on that lawsuit should resign. Espicoially any person mentioned in that suit that would hold a party with booze for underage children at their house as was brought up during the counsel meeting, you can,t have it both ways. I believe that a state investigation into several areas of bourgh practices and management is in order. And again part of the meeting was behind close doors, why? something to hide?. Once more the counsel said in the paper they would fight the law suit and again did they survey the community if that's what they wanted, NO they did not. The article also mentioned cost of defending against the lawsuit, the taxpayer should not foot the biil the counsel should out of their own pocket.

Maybe they should listen to the radio ad from 1450 am that the Indiana Boro Police that tells of the penalties for underage drinking and for those that SERVE UNDERAGE DRINKERS! LOL they said the sound of the door slamming is different for each!
There is no way that this "officer" should get away with this! She needs to resign, too!

Does anyone really know why Hess was fired? I heard he actually wasn't fired, that they just let his contract expire. Does anyone know if this is the truth?
