Wouldn't an overpass for Hazlewood make sense, too? With the hospital on Hazelwood, anyone from the east side / Phalen / Maplewood area has to detour to 35, 61 or WB Ave to get medical care. And now they'll eliminate right turns from Hazelwood, too? I'm failing to see the logic there. Maybe seeing the entire plan would help.

36 should be 3 lanes from Mpls to Stillwater. Instead we get more of the same, crumbling bridges and improved Rice street bridge. Thanks to Leon Lillie who had to link St Judes north and south campuses. I think Leon now knows St jude isn't really a hospital now, someone brought him up to speed.

BUT ya got a couple of IDIOTS representing the NE area, Wiger and Lillie. The 2 of them want everyone to ride bikes to work and play all year long!

So when there were "close calls" according to Senator Wiger at 120 and the Gateway trail he got a bridge built for the bikes. Meanwhile a man get HIT AND KILLED on 36 within a stones throw from the new under construction bike bridge at 120 and 36.

And of course the SHEEP just LOVE Wiger, he is a swell looking guy and always gets a lot of votes.

36 has been 2 lanes for 50 years and will continue to be a congested piece of krap for 50 more years.

"It will greatly improve the level of service for Highway 36 traffic can get backed up for two miles,"

Nice! Then the traffic can be backed up for 4 miles at Hwy. 120/Century.

Love that dirty exhaust and CO smell...

Look at the bright side of the new Gateway Bridge at 120 and 36, there will be NO MORE CLOSE CALLS for Gateway Trail users!!!

Oh Ya, not to worry about the DEATHS of the OTHER people crossing 36. If ya don't ride a bike ya don't COUNT!!!!!

Per Senator Charles Wiger and Rep Leon Lillie..

Noticed Ted Lillie was elected in Woodbury to a state house. Ted ran as a Republican HOWEVER a better brand for Ted would be RINO!!

Ted has been "Running" the Lillie NEWS paper cowering down to NSP Gestapo tactics. NO Republican worth his salt would worship the likes of Mike Keuhn.

Wisconsin should be paying for half the cost. Check out the license plates on this road people. Half are Wisconsin. Toll at the border anyone? 694 is the same way! Wisconsin driver clogging up the roads. Wish they would learn how drive. They think they're in farm country.

Ted ran where he had a possibility to win--Just like Leon, why have to work at just show up and lie in the district of your choosing.

Ted and Leon sleep with the city of NSP. Corruption up and down the ranks.

That ADD generating so-called newspaper is just that-- a shill for the City.

Leon is a BIG UNION HACK...Ted is a CLASS "A" POLITICAL ASS WIPE.

Government UNIONS are killing this county. While the average American Joe is Downsizing, Including people with all sorts of high education, Wiger, lilly, McCallum, Dayton, Kuehn, Franken grow themselves a neat little VOTERS BASE.

How many wage cuts have you seen from GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES! NONE!

This is going to change or there is going to be hell to pay, if we have to have another revolution.

Better yet, block off the north/south entrances from English and Atlantic, take out the lights, and forget the bridge altogether. With entrances on 61 and White Bear Ave, less than a mile from there, why build a bridge? These guys will do anything to find a way to waste money.

Talked to a guy who ,oved out of NSP and asked him why they moved.

He said the cost of living in NSP is about $200 per month higher than Oakdale. He moved his family out and bought a new car with the savings.

Even if you loose money on the house the interest rates are so low that you can make a clean break and get into an area with less Section 8 housing, less houses being rented and foremost less crime associated with the government funded rifraf.

Better yet

Use the railroad bridge just east of English for an automotive bridge and add ramps to 36 to the east and west and at very low cost solve the English stoppage. OH SHOOT I forgot the railroad bridge is used for the BIKE TRAIL!!

All of 10 bikes a day use the trail and all winter the bike trail isn't used at all!!!

Senator Wiger and Rep Lillie both have fettishes with the bike.

REALITY PEOPLE 40,000 vehicles use 36 EACH AND EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR!!!

Good point.

And yet, the worst intersection in all of Maplewood, highway 61 and county road B and the frontage road from Menards, goes ignored year after year after year. It's completely useless, outdated, and has no place in an area with so much traffic. And dangerous! I guess, at least, we always know where the priorities are: bike paths, roundabouts, and unneeded bridges.Yay.

Part of the reason that's a bad intersection is because it's a poorly designed access to Menard's, and the access from Cty. Rd. B is even worse. Anyone ever notice the number of cars headed east on 36 that get off on 61 south, and totally ignore the sign stating no crossing over to exit on B? It's about 8 out of 10. Maplewood could easily add to the city coffers if an officer just sat on the frontage road and nailed every one of those cars.

It's the right idea to eliminate the stoplight at Hwy. 36 & English that backs up traffic on Hwy. 36. Access to the Hwy. 36 at this intersection is unnecessary because drivers can use the Hwy. 61 & Hwy. 36 interchange just a short distance to the west.

It's idiotic to spend the money for an overpass at Hwy. 36 & English because the Hwy. 61 & Hwy. 36 interchange is so close and is a less expensive alternative.

It is more important that Hwy. 36 be three-lanes wide from White Bear Avenue all the way to downtown Minneapolis than to spend money on an overpass at Hwy. 36 & English. The congestion on Hwy. 36 has been horrendous for years and is getting worse!

yah ok, ever try to use County rd B onto 61 during peak times? Or Cope Ave to White Bear Ave?? It takes ten minutes to even get CLOSE to Hwy 36 let alone ON it! Even worse getting off 36 onto White Bear Ave since, as stated, you cannot go 61 to Cty Rd B. But I guess since you are not the one having to be delayed it's ok. People have brought up great points as well, 36 should be three lanes, the 36/Century intersection should have been done with the major overhaul a few years ago as was done with the 36/McKnight interchange.
Guess again gal

In looking at the webpage for the project and the sketch I am happy that fixes will be made also to County Rd B/61/Menard's frontage road. It looks like a lot of different interchange layouts have been looked according to the study.
