Has anyone ever noticed some of our part-time officers sitting across from the bars in town writing down license plates? Not to mention names, but one was seen sitting in the middle of finger hill rd the other day doing just that. By the way how many part-time officers do we really have? I heard 12, is that true?

I'm not sure how many but I think that the city spends too much on our law enforcement in town. Last year we spent $246,000 on it. I don't think we need three newer police cars so that they can take them home. We are one of the most expensive towns in the area on salaries of police. I think more should be spent on our worn out roads and allies instead.

You've got to be kidding. That is a drop in the bucket to what other towns are spending for police protection. If I worked in that town I would be sitting across from your drug sources also building cases to clean up the armpit of St. Clair County. Marissa is the place to go for drugs now because you people are too stupid to protect your kids. Always thinking about yourselves and not your families. Typical thinking.

$250,000 was just the expense for the police officer's salary. Not including their medical, clothing expense and etc. $514,000 was the expense for the entire police department. What also needs to be taken into consideration is that Marissa is a town of only 1,800 people. I think expenses need to be spent more wisely in the community. Don't get me started on our city workers that there is an over abundance of.

Mayor Cross was arrested in St Louis. He controls the city. You have a problem with Marissa you have Mo to thank. When a conviction is entered he is automatically not mayor. No problem with local police goes past the mayor.

Dumbndumber, your name fits you well...did you ever stop and think maybe that officer was running radar, anyone knows that if someone was pulled over from leaving one of your fine establishments, issued a citation all they need to do is call the wonderful mayor and he will see to it, that A. the ticket is lost or B the officer is reprimanded for doing his job..
As for as what the officer's salary is costing you upstanding citizens, how much police force do you think your small quaint town needs? Walk into EM's on any given Friday or Saturday and watch the drug traffic..how many times has the police been called to that establishment alone?
Come on now, Marissa is known for its Heroin use..but nothing can or will be done to fight the crime, or drugs in your quaint little town because there are just too many "upstanding" citizens who profit from the drug activity..
As for as the part time police officers, NO ONE wants to work there, but sadly in this day and age a job is a job!

Just a dam minute. I worked hard to get Marissa the marijuana capital of Illinois.

The Mayor is a cocaine man. MPD knows that.

The big H bull is a cop wanting more hours.

The War on Drugs is lost to the freedom fighters.

The violence from the toluene gas from the landfill is what has inflamed the fighting.

Marissa police are known for being untrustworthy. That is what happens to the tickets issued. Marissa police carry on like the keystone cops. No honest police will work in Marissa.

Only for a moment and charges were dropped because Marissa police knowingly lied to get into my house. Keystone cops all the way. Dishonest the way of Marissa Police. Known to all.

part-timers you work in Marissa you will be know for dishonest reports too.

Not to mention what the landfill fallout gases will do to you and your future off spring.

You know I wasn't busting anyone's balls, I was just curious. But since You want to get all defensive, there are a lot of things the police force can do in Our town, besides sucking up a paycheck. Not all but some of them are just interested in the Rolling stop. You mentioned drugs, well that would be a good start for them to get done instead of pulling elderly people over for a seatbelt violation. Oh, by the way he wasn't running radar! If your pompass azz is tired of Em's, petition your board members not to reissues their license. A town of 1800 doesn't need a version of the SS

Sooner or later, Johnny Law will eliminate this particular topic and have it disappear from "Topix" just like the Steeleville law enforcement recently did when trash talk was about them! Think about it! Whatever happened to free speech?

Marissa police known they get all the respect they have earned. Respectable police officers refuse to work in Marissa. Hopefully they read this. We all could teach them a lot.
