I have heard from several people that Walmart is planning on coming to Oakdale? They say Walmart is building out by Crane Road? Anyone heard this? Is this true? I hope it is, because we have no shopping in Oakdale!

Wal-Mart is the last store you want in your city. Wal-Mart is notorious for attracting the criminal elements ( http://walmartcrimereport.com/ ) and they were found guilty of hiring illegal immigrants. Plus their customer service is horrible and their stores are always filthy!

Walmart will do nothing but attract more mexicans, anyone been to the one in Ceres. All you can hear is mexican music of the loud speaker, which in turn gets drowned out by the sounds of mexican anchor babies screaming and crying because the mom ran out of welfare diapers.

We do not want a wall mart here.
For 1 as previously stated the crime and lowlifes.
For 2 Walmart has long been known to cut prices of their items so much so (they even take a loss) that they can drive local merchants out of business.
I think enough businesses in our community have gone bust and closed
already.
It may bring more money to this area, but for a police force that is already minimal at best do you really think that this would be wise.
all in all, a BAD idea.

If you think the criminal and lowlifes aren't already in Oakdale, you are ignorant. If you think it wouldn't bring more jobs to Oakdale, you are ignorant. Because with Wal-Mart coming to Oakdale, comes an entire shopping center, which means more business and more jobs. The criminal element is already in Oakdale and deep. So Wal-Mart wouldn't be at fault. I would prefer to do business locally, even if it's a large corp like Wal-Mart, but driving to Riverbank and Modesto to shop, when it could be here in Oakdale. Gets a tad old.

As of July 2014, I heard a rumour of Walmart coming to Oakdale California. Can anybody confirm this? Possibly near Crane Road. Does anybody have a link to this information, and was in reported in the Oakdale Leader?

There are only a few Latinas in the Central Valley that don't have 3,4,5 kids by age 20, that aren't spilling over with muffin top...that aren't on welfare.

Racist people re always going to be racist, instead of wasting your time insulting Mexicans you should look around you and realize that poverty doesn't know race. Whites, blacks, Asian, Middle Eastern and yes Mexicans all receive welfare when needed. Stop pointing fingers and insulting Mexicans, if you don't like it you always have a choice, LEAVE!!! Because to your bad luck :) we are only growing:)

If Wal-Mart comes to Oakdale it would be a serious error in vision for the city. More jobs sure. But not necessarily more revenue for the city. It would increase the crime, it attracts low income individuals and it draws shoppers away from hard working small businesses. Many of this towns programs, fundraisers, and business donated extras would dissappear with the small businesses. Think about it. Let Wal-Mart in And watch the town either away. Vacant buildings from small local family owned businesses that can no longer support their families because the town has no loyalty to keep their money local.

Can you be more specific and say exactly which "small locally owned family businesses in Oakdale would be unable to support their families" if Walmart opened a store in Oakdale.
