3) What makes you more irate? That people seem to agree with those who DISAGREE with you? Interesting!
Listen! If panhandlers invade that parking lot then so be it..lol..don't like it, don't go! Your arguments are baseless and delusional! Though I feel you are currently running on one brain cell..I will try again to explain! YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THERE, BUY THEM, OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THEM..IF YOU DO IT'S YOUR FREAKING CHOICE...want to do something about it? Contact city hall..try and get an ordinance passed...your idiotic rants on this board are pointless. Still don't get what you're so wound up about..lol...and did you stop to think that maybe law enforcement has more important matters to tend to..other than dealing with an adult throwing a "bitch fit" in a parking lot because a young girl was mean to him/her? Besides, it looks like you handled yourself just fine
Ummm, I don't think being annoyed at not being able to go about my business in public without being harrassed to buy something or otherwise part with my money, often multiple times, and often unpleasantly startling me, before I can even adjust my underwear and get inside the store is baseless or delusional, do you?

Again. WHERE do I specifically mention someone's RACE? I mentioned illegal immigrants, who can be(and are) of any race or educational level. Seems to me you're the racist one. Equating illegal immigrants with Mexican. I also mentioned the name of a city. How is that racist? I guess calling people on their crappy(and often illegal) behavior is only ok when the offender is of a certain ethnic group or religion.

And no. It has never occured to me that law enforcement has better things to do. You don't say. Hmmm. And again with the assumptions. Where did I say that I called the police? Dude, I didn't NEED to call the police! I simply let the people at Winco know that their customers were being pestered on their private property. Anything that negatively impacts any business, that business is going to take an interest in. Duh. And you'd better believe they're going to throw the bums out. Sooner rather than later. So you see, your suggestion to shop someplace else to avoid the beggars and people selling things ensures that that business will take action against said beggars and unlicensed food vendors when they see it's costing them money. Crimony, this is all econ 101.

And why yes, I am trying to do something about this illegal activity. I know the wheels of justice grind slowly, and it might very well take years. Generally, if you want to use private property to sell something, you must get the owner's permission first. However, the times, they are a-changing. Here in our town you don't see the large number of charities and other groups camping out willy nilly at a Target or Walmart parking lot to solicit donations or harrass customers the way they used to. THEY'VE BEEN BANNED BECAUSE ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAINED. Hallelujah!

But of course your replying to my 'idiotic rants' isn't pointless at all, is it? lol

Actually, I have to admit I've rather enjoyed our sometimes heated discourse. Despite our disagreeing, I found you intelligent, a rarity around here. Local issues do concern me, though. Some of the stuff that bothers me doesn't bother you, and vice versa. If it's illegal and I can do something about it, I'm going to try. And that's about it, really.

I do respect you for standing your ground and doing what you believe is best for your community! More people should get involved and I doubt you will have any problem getting others to listen to you! You do have a legitimate complaint and hopefully you stating your case at the local level will give your city the push it needs to make some changes! Judging by your tenacity on here and how passionate you are about the subject..I'm thinking you just might be successful! Best of luck in your future endeavors, and I too, have enjoyed our spirited debates..you'd make a hell of a politician or lawyer! Good luck!

You know, some kid asked me if I wanted tamales today. It wasn't pleasant. I find it kinda funny how I found this post because it just happened. Just say no, I like your opinions that were expressed here. Keep it up. I like to see sane people from Modesto convey a sense of good judgment. And by the way Kimberly, if you're even around to read these, you have pathetic grammar skills for a probable college graduate.

I think you're missing the point, my friend. Did you even read any of the previous posts? The girl in question was not some homeles waif trying to eke out a living. She was a typical American teenager, fat and mouthy with a skewed sense of entitlement. And yes, I know that not all teens are like her. God, I sure hope not!

What these people do is illegal. You cannot sell home cooked food in public without a license from the city! I've even seen where the city of Ceres has cracked down on the people selling fruit by the side of the road. Way to go, Ceres! I dearly wish Modesto would follow suit.

As Sonny Bono said when asked about ilegal immigration, "what's to discuss? It's illegal!"

For everyone who thinks people should be allowed to sell whatever they feel like in public because "they're not bothering anybody!" Sheeyah, right!

Look at it this way: All of us enjoy our lives and the freedoms we have because of the rules, regulations and laws governing our society. Think of our society as a wall. A wall made of bricks. The mortar and bricks represent the laws and rules that we must live by. Not everyone agrees with every law, but everyone must obey the law or suffer the consequences.

Now, take away some of the mortar and a few of the bricks. You know, the ones you don't like and don't think you should have to obey. What happens to the wall? It's seriously weakened and will eventually collapse becoming a useless pile of rubble that serves no one any good.

It's like the morons who refuse to vaccinate their kids because 'no one gets these diseases anymore!" The reason kids don't die of measles anymore is because of years of vaccinations!!! Idiots!!

We enjoy the orderly lives we do BECAUSE of the laws, not in spite of them. You cannot have one without the other.

You like buying food from total strangers off the street? Well let me tell you a story! Where I live is a donut shop a few blocks down. The owners of this shop live over on the next block from me. Every weekend around 10am the wife pushes a grocery cart with boxes of donuts to sell. Well one weekend she asked one of my neighbors if they wanted to buy donuts. My neighbor said when the lady opened one of the boxes so she could see what kind were in there she saw a cockroach in the donuts. The donut lady is asian and didn't speak english that well and the neighbor was trying to tell her there was a roach in the donuts. The woman moved the donuts around, picked up the cockroach, threw it out and then try to hand my neighbor the box of donuts! She said heck no and walked away. We were so disgusted because we ourselves were buying donuts from this lady! We have never bought anymore since and have never touch another donut since from anywhere! I had thought about calling the health department at that time to report these people and inspect their store but never did.

Oh and if you think the homes of these people selling tamales are clean and the food is safe? Think again! Here is another gross and disgusting story! One year for christmas my sister in law went to her husband's mother house to help make tamales. While preparing the tamales my SIL asked her MIL where she kept the big pots. Her MIL told her to get the pot from out in the backyard. This pot was used as a food bowl for the dogs! My SIL told her no way and asked her for a different pot and her MIL told her that was all she had and to just wash it! My sister in law got the pot but said there was no way in hell she was going to eat anything that was cooked in it! Still want to eat those tamales???!!

I am very picky about whose house I eat in. If I think the person is dirty and never cleans or doesn't wash their hands when they prepare food then I will not eat at their house. And if they come to my house to eat I refuse to let them help unless I personally see them wash their hands first.

The excuse of the food being homemade must mean it's dirty is stupid because that would be bad for business. No one intentionally tries to poison their customers! They're trying to make money, and bet go out of their way to be even more sanitary than restaraunts.
