To the literacy of the common man? It was a general term for all people to relate to.
apparantly, in your case at least, the math and geometry hasn't filtered down to you yet, either.

Don't get all nitty gritty with me. We aren't talking about maths here, so shut up.
the original point was in a posting regarding the bible stating "circle". i stated that the circle is a 2d form and a sphere is 3d in form.

thereby, the implication is if the bible uses the word (or translation of that word) "circle" it is implying a 2d shape. had the translation been to be "sphere" then it would be referring to a 3d shape - as in the earth (also shaped like a ball, if that more simple term suits you better). the earth is 3d shape in shape and form.

and everything relates to mathmatics. it all boils down to numbers.

Homosexuality is based on the brains reaction to how well it perceives the body it is viewing is able to produce good offspring. This would make homosexuals biological errors.
try reading a little from experts that have studied the human mind and humanity. for starters, check with the APA or perhaps the AMA.

The common man would call a sphere a circle, the uneducated man who uses standard english, the bible intended that.

The common man would call a sphere a ball.

No one would ever say: "Throw me that circle". Nor, "Roll me that circle".

And it looks like the Hebrews way back when did have words for both, and used both in the bibble.

Here's a nice explanation for you (I'm sure you'll ignore it):

Didn't think it through did you, idiotic brat? While my mind is significantly more complex, in your stupid youth you are asking questions to yourself such as, "Is it wrong to do this?", "what is life about?", "why am I so loney", "am I weird"? I grew out of those questions, but you're too young to understand why they are so futile!

How many people do you hear saying, "Pass me the sphere"? SO STUPID!

And what about Christopher Columbus? How come he assumed it was a sphere, not a circle? He must be very stupid for a sailor mustn't he in your book?

about as many people as you hear 'pass me the circle', dud.

perhaps a better question for you for you to ponder is "why am i so loony?"

stop fooling yourself...your thoughts aren't complex, only the physical structure of your brain is complex, nothing held within that brain of yours is complex. you can't even grasp teh vast differences between "circle" and "sphere".

he proved you wrong - the hebrews had words for both circle and sphere and understood that concept. yes, even the common man. seems that even in ancient biblical times they were ahead of you dud.

Christopher Columbus had the advantage of living in the cradles of science during the renaissance, Italy and Spain.

The Greeks had known the earth was round. The Muslims (especially the Moors in Spain) knew the earth was round, having continued the study of math and sciences during the dark ages. Even the upper heirachy of the Church knew the earth was round. But the Church just chose to not share this with the common man, opting to adhere to the "sacred word" as the official position by the Church.

Of course, the bibble never states the world is a sphere, just that it is round, like a circle, a two-dimensional object. Further enforcing that it is a flat circle in Job 38:14 ”The earth takes shape like clay under a seal.”

I don't know how you seal your letters, but the impression in the wax leaves a flat disc, not a round blob.

Actually, he believed only from the bible that it was round, like a globe, nowhere else.
