The elderly man driving the white pickup swerved to avoid a car that pulled out on the highway in front of him. The unidentified car that left the scene was witnessed by at least two people. It pulled out and made a right turn on the highway from North Stearns Road. I have a feeling that the OPD does not feel like following up on this. It is the simplest thing to do to say that the elderly driver was completely at fault without any other possible incidence. Robert Arnett turned in early every night, so I am sure that he was not fighting to stay awake at 1:30 in the afternoon. He was very responsible all the time. He would not do anything to distract himself while driving, like turning the radio knobs or talking on his cell phone. He didn't swerve into the left turn lane without a reason. North Stearns Road is the only way in and out of that neighborhood that contains the Oakdale Country Club. I hope the OPD does the right thing and questions everybody in that neighborhood in an attempt to identify the vehicle and the driver.
