Jimmy Pickens has no reservations about letting people know he is the one leading the charge for alcohol sales in Van Zandt County Precinct 1. The sign outside his bail bond office and cellular phone store on Highway 80 in Grand Saline makes it clear.

You can't legislate morality - look who we elected president. Alcohol sales in the county will keep those who drink from having to drive to buy it. No business owner will sell alcohol in Edgewood - they are not "that kind of people." Just ask them. Grand Saline need look no farther than its local school district for an extra $1000 per month for the use of the city's facilities. The superintendent and his cronies strong-armed the city council when the council asked to be fairly compensated. Grand Saline - grow up and take responsibility. Maybe then we can afford some asphalt. There are too many people running the school system who are not locals and do not have any interest whatsoever in improving the town.
