When I was a boy in the 50's my parents friends had a bungalow in Oak Ridge. There was a lake that was below he bungalows and a everything kind of store and ice cream parlor called Rudy's. I am wondering if anyone knows the name of the lake and if anyone knows what ever happened to Rudy's.

My family also stayed in a bungalow (Hilltop Cabins) in Oak Ridge, NJ, and I remember swimming in White Rock Lake. There were about 5 or 6 bungalows with a small pond behind them. In was around 1963. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where those bungalows are located so I could return to see them.

could also be cozy lake, off oak ridge road. i believe rudy's became cliff's and that one failed. there's also another ice cream store near a very large liquor store, can't remember the name of it.

FYI - during that period, most of the houses in these areas were bungalows and/or cottages. they are now just about all 4-season, year-round homes.

there's lake swananoa, greenwood lake....and the list goes on and on.

I have heard that the area is very built up now....and there are even new and bigger roads that go through Oak Ridge. I recall swimming in White Rock Lake and remember my brothers fishing in a very big reservoir nearby. Of course no one had a car...we walked to everything or took bikes. Thanks for responding. I might just go there and look around...see if I recognize anything.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I just can't remember the name of the lake but I do remember a German name but can't remember it either. I don't know if the lake had a German name or if the owner did. I do remember that you had to pay and there was someone at the top of the stairs to collect the money unless you had a bungalow there, then it was free.

The stairs were typical beach stairs. The frame was made of wood and filled in with sand. I guess many stairs are made like that. Hope everyone finds what they are looking for.
