When they announced on the radio that Freddie Mercury had died, I had to pull over, racked with sobs.

Not making light of it, but I just dont understand. I have as much personal connection with any musician/politician/movie star as I do with the guy who bags my groceries. Yeah I feel badly, but I dont think they would leave a hole in my heart.
I dont thing the passing of Rush will even have that kind of an impact on me.

I discovered Queen in 1973 when I was five. I was *in love* with Freddie and thought we'd get married (stupid kid thing). Queen was a HUGE part of my childhood. I had all their albums, listened to them all the time.

I really think it's a gender thing. As much as I hate to say this, I think that women have more of an emotional thing happening vis a vis musicians/actors than men to...in GENERAL.

I was gonna marry Davy Jones (stupid kid thing too), Tom Petty (and I don't even like blondes), and a few others. As I got older I developed a true appreciation of them as artists, but without those initial "kid crushes" I wouldn't have paid enough attention to develop that appreciation...

Sooo emotional attachment from childhood that most guys don't get because they didn't have crushes on the musicians.

Does any of that make sense? I still need more coffee.

I agree but some don't use common sense. My ex sends pictures all of the time to his kid. Unfortunately, it's always pictures of him spending time with his other kids but never seems to have time for his first one and has as much access as he wants. He'd be the first one to complain about the situation and none of it would be true.

(sigh)

So my view is colored to not feel too sorry for this man although I know that's not fair to him. I can't help thinking he lost the court battle for some reason. Doesn't mean I'm right and I hope he wants the best for his kids. I do realize there are as many bad mothers keeping good fathers away as there are bad fathers trying to get back at their former wives.

Sad situations all around.

Everyone thinks of Bohemian Rhapsody when they think of Queen, but my all-time favorite is Fat Bottomed Girls. LOL! I love the acapella part, the harmony, the guitars, and of course, Freddie's incomparable lead vocal. The lyrics, unfortunately, are not suited to a hetero female lead singer, but still I love to sing along...

Well *I* work at a daycare and do care for very young children all the time. They can use a tablet, let me tell you. I downloaded puzzles for them on mine. Keeps the 2 year olds entertained for hours.
