Well, you need to read the paper or watch the news on t.v. and you will find your answer. Something to do with how hard it is to sell your home. And layoffs.

Rico you're so full of it , I don't have to read anything , your answer is understandable though I suspect you're justifying the reason they haven't left on the Housing market and poor economy , but according to you Berwyn has been a bad place to live for years , so they waited for the worst possible moment to sell a house and now they're stuck ......

1993 was the year Morton West H.S. went Mexican and the change began in Berwyn for the worst.

Spread the hate ... why don't you .
Do you realize that most non-latinos can't differenciate between Mexican or Puerto Rican ,or just about any other Hispanic nationality.

So continue being a tool .......

....and 1993 is the year of change in your head.

But it is TRUE!
So I could say nothing.
And the long time resident whites know the cause of the change. And the Mexicans who moved in saw it was quiet and noticed as soon as it became over 50% Mexican Berwyn was not quiet.
So who do you want the truth kept away from?

Just as true as any immigrant group that moved into an area , Puerto Rican , Cuban , Italian , Vietnamese .

There is no truth being kept away , but you choose to pick on the group that is currently at 2 Million in the Chicago area .......

That's just too easy for a Non-Mexican to point out.........
section 8 fails

You know how you fix section 8? Lock the pieces of sh*t in their houses and burn them down! Section 8 people are a drain on society and should be killed. We have enough problems in this country and don't need them to add to it. Our tax money should be paying for lazy pieces of sh*t to live easily so they can have kids at 13 year old and form stupid gangs to terrorize our damn children. Kill them all.

I’ve nothing against Mexicans but I suppose I can see this. They bought into your town in massive numbers probably thinking it would become a sort of Mexican paradise. Obviously, that was never going to happen given they didn't have the income for this. Berwyn supposedly has or had 1,000 foreclosures and I’d bet a very vast majority are Mexican households.

A realtor friend who sells a lot in Berwyn says that the foreclosures are selling and most buyers are white now, and they’re picking up screaming deals. Low income peeps don't have the money to buy anymore. Put those together and things should turn for the better. Your town has great potential.

They bought into the town thinking they had moved to Oakbrook , but I beg to differ on the whole 1993 was the year conspiracy that RICO claims as factual , I'm willing to bet that the majority of those 1000 + forclosures are for homes bought after 1999 or later.

The fact that there are many people who buy homes and can't pay their mortgages unless they rent out their basement or attic to a family is just plain wrong and then there are those who can afford the mortgage but still rent out living space for the extra income .

Stupid banks ok'd alot of these loans creating the whole mess were in right now, by approving the loans the demand for housing created home values to go up , meanwhile there are folks who are paying double mortgage payments just for purchasing a home in 2-3 year difference.

Haha. Didn't mean to give cred to this rico cat. Sounds like a bitter man. And again, nothing against Mexicans. Don't mind the idea of living around them one bit.

1,000,000% agree on stupid bank part but c'mon, I think those who dug themselves in the rut have to take some accountability here too. I'm making darn sure what I buy can be done on 1 income should my wife or I get injured, fired, shot, or whatever. That's not even smart, it's just common sense!

Went to an Oak Park website and they have over 600 section 8 vouchers. So if it's everywhere, why are you bellyaching about it in Berwyn? Jeez.

Because many residents saw how Berwyn was and the change the section 8 has done to the area.
You can't blame this on George Bush!

Section 8 housing makes the landlord richer and does NOTHING to improve the quality of life for the reciever of these programs.

Name a successful government social program for the so called disadvantaged.

Only the bad result of Section 8 is reported. You never hear about the formerly middle-class, educated family down on their luck that moves to Section 8, only to move out after finding employment again. This does happen but few and far between. It is not all a stereotype.

I wonder if it's worth it for the landlord when they move out. They must leave the place totaled.
