beo, some of the police did feel that at least two had to be involved. they didn't feel that one man could have pulled it off alone.

The closest to the truth I heard was the little boy whose dad was a funeral director said. I grew up in that area too. People always referred to him as Hamburger Harry. He did commit sucide and is buried not far from where he worked. He wasnt anybody mention in the previous post or the insane guy that the family had money. He came from a family with lots of brothers and sisters, just a every day guy to look at him.He was never married lived at home with his parents. All his brothers and sisters are dead now, I guess some of them knew the story. It was told to me as a child close to 50 yrs ago. I remember the night he shot himself I was sitting outside playing in the dirt with some of my cousins.Thats all I have to say,I am sure he is burning in Hell for more than one reason. It gives me the creeps every time I hear about it.Hadn't thought about it for years but seen it on the news last night.

This is a story that's always fascinated me. The fact that information on the case isn't readily available on the net or in books just makes it that much more interesting. Since I was a kid my family would talk about the legend of the mad butcher, and they had a book, which i now have, called Unsolved Murders by George and Melody Bragg. Like Beo said the facts in the book are taken directly from news paper articles, which I also believe are not entirely accurate. But for someone who wants to learn as much as they can about TMB its a good read. I looked around and found that the people who wrote the book are still active. I think they do mostly photography related projects now but you can still buy the Unsolved Murders book. The website is http://www.coalphotos.com/books.htm
I agree with the person who said the case should be made into a documentary. Would make for an excellent picture. I don't know how much interest people would have for the butcher in other parts of the country, but for me, as someone who grew up and still lives in southern WV it seems unthinkable that something like this could happen in such a small quiet community.. even now. And this was 50 years ago! I will be checking back on this thread to see if anything else comes out. I hope the remaining family members of the victims can have closure. It seems like if there was enough interest and the proper people were in charge of the investigation, that we could have a real answer to the question. Who was the Mad Butcher?

I still am sure that the person I first wrote about is the one who did these crimes. The stuff we found that didn't even make sense suddenly made sense after being on here and reading things, like finding the bags of shaved body hair, lots of hair in this mans dresser drawers, just so much stuff and stories that the daughter would relay, but none could be proven cause DNA didn't exist. The home is soon to be destroyed to make room for a newly built home.If my intituitions are true, then I am sure evidencthat had been buried will show itself.I have said befor
I would relay my story to a cold case investigator
to see what they thought, but would they even
bother after all this time.If anyone knows an
officer interested post it.I am close to being
uninvolved totally with this closing now and would
like to talk to the Dilley family about what I do
know,to help maybe put it to rest.It is on my
mind every day.My computer stays down and i
don't get on much, plus health problems keep me
very bedridden a lot.I would like to ease my mind
by knowing maybe he wasn't involved, but my gut
says otherwise.
I hope you are still followin this thread... Who ever you are talking about and where ever this estate is, you need to report what YOU DO KNOW and fast! No they did not have DNA back then but they do today, the hair you found could be analyzed, the building could be searched and blood splatter could still be detected. There are tons if things that could be done but this place should definately be investigated. This person could have been responsible for horrible acts on who knows how many and who are you to with hold this? Why do you care about this AFFLUENT oak hill family? Do you not see that this women was tormented her whole life by carrying her fathers secret? She gave the burden to you, you will never have peace witin yourself and what are you protecting now? She's dead!! What area in Oak Hill is this estate located?

I emailed every online link inluding this forum to a cold case investigator, of course official information is limited and most all we have is word of mouth. She did email me back and I'd going to look everything over, said she would get back to me in a couple if weeks after the holidays. The site is www.defrostingcoldcases.com
The thread should post soon
