This is an embarrassment to our town. Who's bright idea was this???? People from around the state is asking me why we can't afford necessary equipment for our officers. We need an investigation to find out where the police grant monies went.

The funds from the clock came from a grant for a grant for improving the face of rural U.S.
They did not come from any kind of city funding. Period.
Our conditions continue to worsen, as poverty continues to increase.
Drugs and poverty with the easy access to guns equals a dangerous situation to officers. These vests are needed.

I imagine that not many who post on these pages are able to donate, but people who are able to, will.

The brave Officers EVERYWHERE that put themselevs in danger everyday need the most uptodate equipment on the market because behind every badge is sombody's Son, Daughter, Husband, Daddy and so on. Receiving a donation from people on assisted living will probably be in the 1% range and those that do will give from the heart. The workin man is TAXED TO DEATH not to mention the price of living such as gas, food, utilities, medical, kids education and ect. and did I mention TAXED TO DEATH. Everybody already knows that seeking any funding from any City, County, or the State is well shall we say not giong to happen because as EVERYONE already knows of the same old sob story that has been told since the beginning of time "They Aint Got No Money". With that being said how about seeking a donation from the "RICH" or have I now went over my bounds? 1 idea is Buisness's give them a tax break for their donation's because they either have to buy something or pay the taxes anyway. Another IDEA is how about the "Lawyers and Politicians" OR I have went way over boared now? I think they may have a little loose change they could spare. People can't help to notice strung out all over the State are Truck trailers with the governors name on them, youall know as well as I do that is some serious money just setting there and it is an election year so get on the phone and see if he can help you out. But the workin man is Taxed to Death and there aint no tax break in sight for him any time soon. Hope a couple of these ideas have been helpful cause thats all I can donate at this time!

One more group you could hound about a little of that money and I have yet to see one of these Company's struggle is the "Insurance Company's" I bet I hit a nerve with that one. Now I want everybody to just stop and put your hand on your chin for a second and think. Have you ever seen a poor "Insurance Agent". Well what are you waiting for? The Money is out there so get on the horn to some of these people that have been mentioned, They can afford to hand out some of that CASH for the safety of our Officers. The Workin man is Taxed to Death!

Someone may try gettin the Mayor to look at some of these ideas on where he could try to BUM a donation from, As far as that goes alot of towns could use some of these ideas because if you talk to any City or County Official "THEY ARE ALL BROKE" Hope I have been some help in the cause to make our Officers that protect and serve our communities SAFER. Thats about the only thing I can donate because the workin man is TAXED TO DEATH.

Thats a very good Question. Maybe somebody from the County would like to comment on this? If not someone needs to look into this.

Several people have said that the city officers have newer vests that are only 2 yrs old or so but that the county sheriff's deputies are the ones with outdated vests that need to be replaced. I am just wondering why the city is organizing this fundraiser and collecting the money if the police officers in the county-funded sheriff's department actually need the new vests. Shouldn't the donations go to the county commission to be used for that purpose (rather that the city of Spencer)?

I think that they should use the serplus vehicles money to buy the vest I agree with radio head. This is all just a way to take for money for the mayors pocket. So sad they have to use something like this to do it.

This is bullshit. We have one shooting in 20 years and all of the sudden these useless pieces of shit need body armor? All they do is scratch off lottery tickets and hang out at the police station. They probably deal with 3 crimes a week, on a busy fucking week. And now they need body armor? Hey, morons, you are the ones who have to foot the bill for this. It is a useless waste of your tax dollars. Hey dipshits these cops are not here to protect you, they are here to raise revenue for the city by writing you tickets and charging you with petty finable offenses.

Most people in the community dont have a problem with the police and when people do there is usually a reason why so with that being said, The people DO NOT NEED burdened with another cost such as vest. Someone had made a post and mentioned people needing to make a donation and the way the conversation went another person made a suggestion that instead of putting it on the taxpayers which were taxed to death already they should seek a donation from the RICH.
