Dr. Ashir is great. Good with kids and great if you don't believe in overmedicating your kids. Has really good ideas for keeping your kids healthy. One of few doctors I know who really does stay current with new advances in medicine.

he is my daughters Dr. and although he may have some very strong opinions on some things, he is very good. When my daughter was misdiagnosed by another Dr. at BarH, when he came in he corrected everything the diagnosis and the meds, if not for him she would not have survived. They were giving her the wrong medication. Believe he went straight to the other Dr. and told him he was never to see his patient and told him everything he done wrong. He truly cares about his patients.

My son went there, we loved him. However, he unintentionally undiagnosed my son several times which led to him having surgery. Afterward we left and he sees Dr Fernold now.

I am confused cause I can't believe we r talking about the same Dr!!!! He was rude and arrogant and a quack!!!!! Yes I agreed w/a lot of what he said and yes Dr's r too quick to write prescriptions for antibiotics but if my child has a fever or is in pain I'm gonna give them some Motrin or Tylenol which he says he's totally against. Told us to give our kid soy milk cause cows milk was cow puss and that Gerber baby food has arsenic in it and I could go on. I wouldn't take my dog to him very very rude!!!!!! Like a lot of Drs he thinks he's above everyone else!!! U guys can keep him for real will NEVER go back to him!!!

I have taken my kids there a few times. I know when you have a scheduled apt you are going to have some what of a wait, but a 2 hour wait is ridiculous! He's on the organic all natural band wagon which is great for him I have nothing against it, but I also don't have time to sit another 2 hrs & listen to his lecture & how I'm wrong for not joining that band wagon! I also get frustrated when he tries to "school" me on my kids medical conditions. I never mind learning new things, but I get annoyed when you're telling me I'm not doing my job properly when I'm following the specialists orders!!!! All in all he is a nice guy, he does seem to genuinely care for the kids, but he does seem some what of a quack & I really don't like spending 4-5hrs at his office each time I take my child for a visit!

Pretty much to sum it up, he is a good doctor, but he is so full of himself that you really can't deal with him. He can't keep receptionists/help because he is extremely condescending (yes, especially towards women). He will try to make you feel like you are the worst parent in the world if you go against anything he says, and he will not isten to any other advice from other doctors. Even if he sends your child to a specialist, if they say something he doesn't agree with then he writes off any advice they give. The facts are my son used to see him when he was diagnosed with autism. We saw him for over a year, but then ended up moving to Charleston and it just wasn't feasible for us to drive back to Oak Hill for appointments so we switched to a pediatrician in Charleston. A year later we moved back to Oak Hill and I wanted to go back to him and he told me that he would not see us because we shouldn't have left in the first place. I was astounded that he would refuse to take take my son back as a patient simply because we had moved. I also had a friend who said that he called CPS on her because she let her child get a mild sunburn. All in all I don't care how good of a doctor he is. He has a god complex and there are too many good pediatricians out there to put up with his bull.
a great doctor

I've been taking my children to him since before his oak hill office was relocated. I trust his decisions. he gives great advice. he always tests to make certain of his determinations. he cares about each child individually. he keeps up with current research and is very knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone. I know two parents personally who were trying to get a check for their children and wanted more than anything for them to be diagnosed with autism. well, dr. ashir is not going to diagnose a child with anything until lots of tests are performed to ascertain something like that. and dr. ashir will not recommend antibiotics if they are not necessary. children really do need to fight out some things and build up their own immune system. and dr. ashir will not recommend Tylenol or any other fever reducers unless the child has a high fever. did you know that fevers were actually a natural defense to fight infections and bacteria? they're not a bad thing unless they are extremely high. and yes, dr. ashir recommends vitamin d supplements, no plastic baby bottles, and no painted toys. he has some good reasons for his advice. I could go on and on. if you're a parent looking for a doctor to tell you what you want to hear and write you prescriptions and diagnose your child with disorders to draw ssi checks--don't go to him. but, if you're looking for a great doctor who actually cares and don't mind hearing him give you a short lecture explaining his actions at the end of each visit--try him out, you'll love him.(I can't believe someone actually complained that a doctor took too much time explaining things to them, lol.)
