I see a lot of posts talking about how bad oak hill football is, so answer me this, what should be done to fix the problem?

In my opinion, if the stories I'm told are true, certain changes need to be made to make things better, to start with the kids need to be held a little more accountable for their actions (or lack thereof) but the coaches also need to step up their games as well (even from an X's and O's standpoint)

For example, what I've been told (2 things)

1. Week of Greenbrier West game. The Oak Hill team worked all week on a spread offense, that's all they did, the day of the game a certain player (D.M) was moved from RB/TE to QB and the team went on to play a power I the whole game. Now, some say this may not be a big deal, but to someone who coaches football (IF THIS IS TRUE) that this is piss poor game planning and practice planning, as well bad for the kids, how can the kids have confidence in a game plan when it looks things are made up as they go along?

Secondly, one of the players told me that the oak hill "bread and butter'' would be an outside zone....for those who don't know,watch a WVU game. I then asked him about the play...kid was a running back....and he had never been properly taught what his keys were, what reads to make, what tracks to take, how can you run a play and not teach the proper fundamentals to do so?(there are two main reads for a RB to make, and 3 possibilities of what to do with those reads) You can't just hold up a card and say, "Hey, see that line, you do that." That's not coaching.

If these situations are untrue and just disgruntled kids and parents saying things, then that's one thing....if it's true, then it's sad.

So what can be done to fix oak hill football? Will it be better this year?

Also, I read a lot about "motivation" and "heart" from some of the posts I've seen. I've coached football and played football for my entire life, attitude reflects leadership, leadership, motivation, heart...all starts at the top.

I am assuming you are talking about the high school. I think it is a trickle effect of poor coaching, which causes parents to tell the players it isn't their fault, which makes the players not respect the coach and therefore they don't give it their all. The coaches need to step up their roles with the players, demand 100%, expect 100%, every practice, every game.

Its easy and these is toward the OHML AND You can continue to high school . Remember to have fun its a game. These migdet league coaches are tryin to re live there child hoods through these kids and they take the fun out of the game they want to start the practices earlier every year like these kids are playing ball to pay the bills relax a little the more fun these boys have the better they will play and the more attention they will pay to the coaches and as far as the coaches not going by the play book they need to reemember they had there chance in school and that time is over so have fun relax and just play ball

Hear this. I gaduated recently , I started varsity since I was a freshman , taught by Greg nun both lokant brothers ( all staters / college ball??) had colleges looking at me 3.9 gpa everything going for me until my senior year when coach crane came . Crane seemed like a nice guy but one member of his coaching staff is a complete dumb**s . The coach lineman coach he got from mount hope who the year before went 1-9 I think . This guy don't know jack sh*t and needs to get taught by some real coaches ( Martin , shokey, Harris , sh*t bob workman knew more and that's really sayin something ) he has now respect for the players at all!! He cussed at me and I took my helmet off his and called him out but he's to chicken cause he should know better than to cuss a guy twice the strength and size of him. None the less I tried to talk to crane about it and he didn't care bout his players point of views so oak coaching staff minus Jason blankenship reuined the team and my senior year !! Maybe they should let blank take over and run the show he is a really awesome guy who knows football . We was at a game one time and a guy was talking smack and blank called him out cause he loves the red devils so much

I can tell you exactly what the problem is.. #1 they need a new coach.. You cant run a spread offense with a weak line.. Crane is garbage.. Get a real coach in there and it will all turn around. He is all talk and no action.. When Coach Martin was there you didnt see kids skippin practice to go get high etc bc they knew they were runnin 25 laps for everyday they missed, and if they didnt run their laps they werent dressin.. Get a coach that knows what they are doin and has a hard nosed burning desire to win..Too bad Coach Blankenship is leaving because he has more heart and passion for football than any of the others.. Get G. Nunn in there.. bet money they would turn it around

I'm an old school red devil.. back in the day when you had players like Adamn Bowland, Nathan Fell, Casey Eagle, Chris Nelson , Lamond Dearing, Marcus Grasty, Web Pannell, Chris Freeman, etc.. showing up at the weight room was a given... These guys busted their asses all summer in the gym getting ready for the season.. Now these kids "think" they are D1 talent and none of them are.. They dont have the strength, heart nor the talent to make it.. It's sad.. Oak HIll has some of the best athletes every year... but one or two guys can't make a playoff team
its terrible.. I've said it for a long time now.. If you want Oak Hill to climb back to the top of the "AA" football ranks.. Hire Jason B. as their head coach.. Not only because he deserves the job but because if you had someone like him leading this program, past players would volunteer their time and money to make sure their old team got back to the top..
im tired of seeing wasted talent
lets get the men in there who can do the job.. not the men who have been teaching for 30 years... get the guys who care about the program and the city..

sorry I understand you want to brag on your kid but it takes a whole team to win a game not just one kid I mean yeah maybe he is good but those other boys must be too they watch his back so he can make the plays besides there is no I in T-E-A-M. Sorry if I made you mad but the truth is the truth. And the truth will set you free :-}

You do realize Jason Blankenship is coaching the team, not playing... right? If you would have read the post right before that one it clearly said he was a coach. Sorry if I made you mad but the truth is the truth. And the truth will set you free ;)

So who are you talking about here? Who's trying to relive their past life? Do you know these coaches? Have you spent time around these guys or do you have a perspective from afar? And practice started at the time the conference said for it to. There was a voluntary conditioning camp that was held for anyone and everyone, not just football players. There were several kids there that did not play football. So please, don't hide behind a screen name. Who are you and who you talking about?
