I'm sure all of you have had grandparents that were in the world war 2 era. If they died before you were born I give my condolences. If you would ever listen to their stories they talked about work that just doesn't happen with the youth today. They worked so hard for a living it's not even funny. It should be everyone's top priority is providing a living for your personal self, or if you have a woman/man married or with kids or vice versa. How you carry yourself and how you work and Honesty is so important. I just want everyone to succeed. I'm not saying in the least that I work as hard as my grandpa (he worked on the railroad 53 yrs.) but I've welded on nuclear boilers, Built mine equipment & Small railway projects for various people. I'm AWS certified welder in every position on everything. I currently hold more welding certifications than anyone in Fayette County. But I worked extremely hard for it. I'm just curious is it because of all the distractions today that kids aren't caring as much? Is technology making us lazy? or are kids at the point to where the economy is so bad they don't care either way? I'm just curious.

It is a shame, isn't it. I honestly think it is a lack of proper upbringing. I see it all around and it is sad. There are far less kids today that have been taught to have pride in their selves and take responsibilty for their lives. The sadest part is the fact that their children don't seem to be their top priority. Not saying all young people are like that. The shame is, it seems that the majority are.

You might want tp be careful and not let your self centered ego overwhelm what your topics is about!: In answer to your question, It's all in the way the children were reared, allot of the actions of the young people today can be blamed on their parental instructions. If parents today don't have their hearts desire set on their children's future while they are young and at an age to conquer an education to keep up with the changing of times, then your question will always be easy to answer. You can always blame the majority of it onto parental guidance.

Some parents aren't to blame tho, I am not trying to argue with you, what you said is mainly true, but some parents try and teach their kids but sometimes no matter what you do they still turn out lazy or the drugs get to them. Their are 13 year olds doing pills! I believe its a 50/50 between the parents and the economy.

I thought some of you would agree with me. It is about parental guidance while the children are young, and it is and has been the parents responsibility to rear and educate their childen. Thank you

We should all strive to be better parents than our parents. That sounds bad if you take the statement baldly but if you think about it you should learn from your parents and no matter how good they were you should always try to improve that parent child relationship. Its not just true for our generation but should carry on to the next and your childrens children after that. I had wonderful parents and although I only have my father left he told me that bit of wisdom and it made sense to me people only grow as they learn from their own exprience as well as those that tried their best to teach them.

Mike so true ,you have a good view, but Im 70 and see in my grandchildren advanced intelegence in them compared to my generation, face it most children are smarter than their parents,I dont know why but that is the way it is,also I see a lot of parents who do not have proper respect for their children, or take the time to show a little concern or compasion for children other than their own.
