My family and I ate there twice, after the first time I said I wouldn't be back but I did give it a second chance and was sorry I did.
A plain Chef Boyrdee pizza would taste like fine dining at a 5 star restaurant compared to the so called food they are serving.
seems like whoever has it now is cheaper than the last owner ever was and that is pretty darn cheap.
As far a melisas goes I've eaten there a couple times also. I cant stomach the dirt so I marked that off the list too.
"Sorry" I dont have a dime in either place except for the ones that I spent there. Just telling it how I saw it

Why do I get the feeling that all the negative post are from competitors or people who have a grudge?

delfinos is great. So is melissas food. But delfinos service blows melissas out of the water. Also, if youy havent noticed maybe you should crawl out from under that rock, melissas hasnt been open in over a week. Looks like that place is DONE ! She didnt even make it a year. Guarantee you delfinos will still be here next year. They actually get business.

I didn't know it had been already closed for 2 weeks. I live in Fayetteville and don't drive through Oak Hill very often. I guess it's logical to assume that Melissa's Kitchen is now permanently closed. I had only been there once about six months ago, so I wanted to go back to see if things had improved.

Well, Melissa's Kitchen was open on Friday evening (12-14-2012) around 8:45pm. Four cars were in the parking lot and people were eating in the restaurant. Did it rise from the dead?

tonight is the first night theyve been open in 2 weeks. Not sure, but it may have risen from the dead. I know their waitresses dont even make 5 dollars in tips a shift usually, so they obviously have some serious issues.

I've eaten at Melissa's twice. The first time was about one month after the place opened, and the second time was about six months later.

Both times I got there just after noon and we had to wait almost an hour for a simple burger or chili. I swear that the chili was Hormel's Chili out of a can. It was LOADED with sodium--that was the giveaway.

The waitresses apologized both times that some dish or side dish that I wanted was not available because "the truck didn't come yet"!

The tables and chairs are rickety and uneven. The table rocked back and forth, almost throwing the food onto the floor or onto the patrons.

Since my second trip, I've seen fewer and fewer people eating there and I don't think Melissa's Country Kitchen will be in business much longer. Try Cafe 110 or DelFino's instead!

Me and my Husband stopped in Melissa's and LOVED the food. The 3 waitresses seemed like they really had NO CLUE how to handle a full house. I can't put it ALL on them, though; the cooks seems to be only working on one order at a time.
I believe after a lil' while she'll weed out the bad eggs and she'll do AMAZING! I support her business 100% and wish her all the blessings in the world!
p.s.
don't be so cruel people, her place is a family owned business; how would you feel if it was your family? i'm sure you wouldnt start out perfect.(:
BUT--even a family-owned restaurant needs to know what they're doing or the public will not patronize the establishment. That's Basic Restaurants 101 !!! In the length of time since they opened, they don't seem to have learned this basic fact of retailing. I am sorry for Melissa. She is probably a good cook it takes so much more to get a new business off the ground and she just didn't have the right people and the skillset to make this work.

<quoted text>you're a dumbass. Black people dont come from beckley just to eat. Melissa does have people that drive to her restaurant in support of her because she damn near ran the omelette shop on harper road for Idk how long. If it wasn't for her that place woulda been SHIT. Secondly, A LOT of people come from beckley to hang out at the different bars in oak hill, especially baby dolls and rafters. Just like a lot of people who live in oak hill drive to beckley to eat and go to the bar. Its definately not a drug place. She doesn't tolerate bullshit. This past weekend was busy, and there was a little wait on the food because nobody around here wants to actually work a real job, so she's a little understaffed..but the food is great. There are a lot of very thankful that someone around here is willing to stay open past 11 and provide a good meal. If you're not one of those people, I don't think anyone really cares what you have to say. Don't go lol plenty of people will continue to enjoy it
Well, now what do you have to say (without the profanity, please)? I think Melissa's has bit the dust. Appropriately so.

just like I told these people on the last comments in december, she was done then. After I posted on here that she was closing she was open for 2 more days. Not in a row just random days. Melissas has been done since after the first 2 or 3 months but doors haven't been opened in 2013
