Why should we approve the levy when the state has taken over the school system? Guess that means the teachers and board aren't doing their job so why let them have raises?

Sorry but the board of ed can't hire or fire anybody. The state has taken over running the school system. Is that too difficult for you to understand? Nobody I know has gotten fired that I know of. I'm sure you are mistaken because you don't know who you are talking to. You just ass-u-me you know. Lol

the levy doesn't give any raises, it does give free lunch, free textbooks, free admission to home games, and extra materials like art supplies and library books to the students. Why would any smart, rational person be opposed to helping students, especially the lower income ones???

Because, as a homeowner with no kids, I'm tired of paying all that money for other people's kids.

exactly! i pay 500 $ a year, have no kids . take some of that and buy them lunch! since the state runs our board office, lay off all the incompetent board members we have.(big savings).put their slaries toward these things. my thoughts

Like I said, why pay for a levy when it is not doing anybody any good. The stste runs the school system so our taxes are useless because they haven't helped the students.

This levy actually raised our taxes years ago when it was first passed. Those higher tax rates still apply. If the levy is voted out taxes will actually drop. Counties with excess levys have to share their taxes with counties that have not passed excess levys. Why should we have to share our money with other counties?

Maybe if parents had to pay for the kids books they would start paying attention to their children and make sure they study and make good grades.

I think it all needs a change from the inside out anybody who calls for a two hour delay when the weather ain't that bad but then expects them to go to school when it is bad needs a head examination

Why would anyone vote to increase their taxes anymore??? They're already far too high!! As far as "free" textbooks, NOTHING is FREE!!!! Good lord how stupid we've become, and, if you think that our kids have gotten smarter by throwing more money at a broken system, then you need to research where this entire country stands compared to the rest of the world!!! We spend more on education than any country in the world, and the results are TERRIBLE!! I'd like to buy everyone involved in public education for what they're worth and sell them for what they "think" they're worth, I'd be richer than Bill Gates.

For all those who voted today, you will see the majority of the levy money went to the teachers for pay. The students were at the bottom of the list.

With nearly 3/4 MILLION for vision and dental???? OMG, sign me up! Perks like that in this economy are beyond selfish and stupid! It was a horrible levy, but bet it passes! Why do people think they are entitled to all this just because they breathe? And why do the politicians propose this? Because it's all for their friends and families....good ole boy system, alive and well in WV in 2013!
