Wow-- We were visitors a few weeks ago and used the ferry system.. It if were user friendly I would say raise the rates.. but having to make a reservation and having a 15 minute spread to show up to get your place and then wait in line for another 1/2 hour +, and more time to load is crazymaking... When you can't make a reservation you better show up an hour beforehand and wait in a line on the main road and hope to get on 'that' ferry.. The system is not efficient but with a captive clientele you people are S.O. L. and at their mercy.. Good luck with that...

You musta not've been riding the Keystone-Port Townsend ferry. That is very efficient and pleasant. We have ridden that four times in the last three weeks. Reservations are the way to go.
