Oak Forest Girls Softball

Ok so the very person who is responsible for making the board that ran girls softball for years and did a fine job at it quit and who is also a Park Commisioner for Oak Forest has up and left the program and went to another town with about 8 girls from the organization to go to a Tinley Park team. I believe one of the girls that went with him to that team is also a daughter of another Park Commisioner. Maybe Tinley needs a couple of new commisioners for their park board??? If your on the park board and take your kids to another town for a program OF does not have thats one thing but we have softball if its not good enough for your kids then why is it good enough for everyone elses??? why not fix it Mr Park Commisioners???? I have also heard that what was once a 15 person board is now down to 3, the whole new board quit!!! Maybe thats why he jumped ship. I believe these two comissioners are up for reelection this year. Maybe they should run in Tinley Park!!! Lets hope the park district can pull softball together for the sake of all our girls not just HIS this time.

Give names of the Board and the Commisioners. It is public information. I for one, will remember them next election. I watched for 2 years now how a few of the Board Members acted with arrogance. They need to remember it is just A KIDS GAME!

I know for sure that the first guy they are talking about is Pat Burns the second one could be Sopko I know he had a daughter in the softball league.

They are elected to support and help the programs they create. Taking their daughters out of the program is neither one of those. If they think their program is that bad, it is their fault and they should resign.

They have also changed the name of the Raiders field from Ron Colletta(spelling) field to Fury field for Lacrosse(25 kids), per their website. Ron was one of the founders of the Raiders program who died when he was I believe 38 years old. The park was named in honor of him, It is a sin to change it. Who do these guys think they are. I hope the election next april will be the start of taking our P.D. back.

Is this confirmed that Park Commissioners' would damage the Girl's Softball Program they were elected to protect, guide and improve? Mr. Sopko was elected in the last Park election wasn't he? This is hard to believe.

And secondly, as for Commissioners taking their girls to another softball league out of town regardless if they are commissioners or not, they are parents first and it is their right to have their children play where they want to play. I don't have any girls playing softball so I don't know about the league, but maybe the league they went to is not like Oak Forest's league. There are so many horrible crisis happening in our country today that it is so surprising and scary that people would spend so much time trashing their fellow community members like you all do here. From churches to volunteer organizations the list goes on. Maybe you all ought to lighten up and remember these are kids organizations and for the kids and honestly do you think the kids care where commissioners kids play....NO. There is no way to make all people happy all the time, but you people seem to be unrealistically unhappy all the time. So for you I will pray!

If people minded their own "beeswax" this site would not exist. And that is one of the reasons its here. It is to post one's opinion. Now, of course it is every parents right to do whats best for their kids. No arguement here. However, if 2 elected Park District Commisioners move their kids to another park district, you have to ask why. If the other park district is better, then they have the ability to change Oak Forests program. Why dont they? It is why we elected them. Why are they not doing that? They may have a legitimate answer.

I stand corrected I checked it out and it says Fury Field(Raider's Field) you are correct, BUT, the way it was posted I thought you were saying the Commissioners renamed the Field to Fury Field and took Coletta name off of it...that is not the case. On their website they state Fury Field. That is just a matter of semantics, just like the majority of the people in town who call it Raiders Field and NOT Coletta Field. But the honor bestowed on Mr. Coletta has not changed in my view and that is what I believe is important! You may not want my prayers, so I will just wish you some more happiness in your life.

The commissioners took their children to a full time travel private organization with 12 month softball, not another park district or park district softball program. Oak forest softball for years has vocally fought having a full time travel program because they would lose field usage. The problem is the need for more fields. that was voted upon by the parents of oak forest already at a recent election when they voted not to purchase the convent property. Softball has also stopped a part time travel program for softball after a year. Commisisoner sopko started a lacrosse program in town and is being lamblasted that he is taking fields because his child wants to play lacrosse. Yet now according to the posts here he should start a full time travel softball program in town and take fields from the softball program.

First and foremost where a parent chooses to take their kids to play sports is their business, second if all you haters who thrive on negativy want to continue to be bitter and have hate in your hearts gets your facts straight. Oak Forest does not offer a FULL TIME TRAVEL TEAM - there are not enough fields nor has anyone managed to "step up" and take on the challenge and time to create one therefore if anyone chooses to go to another program because they offer one that is their BUSINESS not all of you that sit at your computer and judge....2nd the kids that left well those are kids that were looking to take their game to another level all season maybe some of you at home with your opinions on everything that is not your business and experts in nothing " could take on the challenge of being a coach - naw too much trouble easier to sit back and live with hate in your hearts....... not all of those kids are the age to be on Pat Burn's team - not did he ask them to try out and Tinely was not the only place they tried out or made the team. As for the board there are 11 members not 15 - as for some of them that resigned all different reasons again you people love to hang on to the rumors and get the facts twisted because you dislike someone - some of them that resigned after two years are still staying in the program as coaches just nor board members too much of a committment with what they have going on in theor personal lives - you know a life the thing that most of you lack..... and again don't see any of you running to the door to step up and join the program and or the board. That board has done so much in the last 2 years more than expected and twice as much as appreciated - except for the few of you who because you are so bitter and negative feel that you were looked down upon and maybe you were because you choose to fester in the BS.... so if it's a problem for you what people do with thier kids and thier own time then you seriously have to look at why that bothers you - even if they are public officals they can play where they want when they want - doesn't mean they don't support the program only means they wanted something different and when one of them added something differnt you accussed that person or renaming a field .. really didn't that sound totally ridiculous when you said that out loud - the bigger problem you have is that you want to dislike the person or the man and its so much easier to focus on the gossip and all the in correct facts you have !!!!! Need to get yourself some help and stop worrying about everyone else so much and try focusing on your own life or how about this putting you feet where you mouth is and YOU stepping up and taking on the challenge to change the softball program and or any other Park District progam - oh wait that's right your too busy let someone else do it so then you can critize and wine and complain... yep that's right too busy being a hater -...

The facts who's facts you couldn't be more full of gossip, don't see you disputing THE FACTS - and let's remember travel softball is a try out basis so any kids that actually went to travel which frankly again is none of your business is a personal descsion between the child and their parent so if the kid wants to try out and play year round good for them... the fact that your on this first thing in the morning only proves the point - there is a war going on and the economy is in the crapper yest your biggest worry at 7:30 in the morning is spreading rumors based on your facts.. yes I posted a responses because friends called and we had a good laugh at you and all your mis-information.. and now we spend a few moments again chuckling at you .... that you have to hop on first thing ... if you were even close to be factual that would be one thing your all personal and so off base.. move on... and instead of telling other to fix why don't you start with getting the right info - well thanks for the laughs ....

Hey Comm. Sopko and Comm. Burns have lost their cotton-picking minds and gone to the dark side!! I guess they have the right to do that as any adults have, again, just like baseball in this town, all of these young ladies are going to play professional softball, right? As it was stated on another former website that was up and running during the last election, the commissioners should really be looking to improve the programs and to seek out plans to increase and improve the park facilities, are all the haters saying this is not happening? You all really confuse me with this back and forth about something that is not all that important to life in general. Travel youth Sports in any area starts all this cancerous talk. It just amazes me how fast this Oak Forest fire spreads, even the Fire Department can't put it out. The Park Commissioners tried to get more land, they failed and failed badly! OK! You have seen abuses from these commissioners in the past and now they are starting again, oh go figure! Are these not some of the same folks that mentioned they were going to change the parks for the better and not do what the last regime did? Again OH my, they seem to be doing somewhat the same! Parents any parents have the right to take their children to play activities anywhere they want, even if it sends a strange message to their children. Commissioners though, are elected to improve the parks and programs of the community they are elected to serve, if they are not doing that, then vote them out! It disgusts me how many want to complain, but not one of you on either side of this argument have any positive suggestions. Let's just re-open the sanitarium at OF hospital, we have a whole large community that needs room reservations!! Not willing to vote for these crazy candidates, but you all sure can complain. Have fun in Tinley Park girls, when they reach the age to attend High school Oak Forest will kick Tinleys ass like they always do. If you're a board member and your kids are playing for another city, you should resign asap. Your not the solution your the problem !

If they were signing their daughters up to play in another towns Park District program, this complaint might have some validity. However, this is a travel team. Many towns all over the south suburbs have them. If you read about the OFPD softball program, you will see that it says it is an educational program. Travel ball is for girls that want to step up their game and play more than twice a week.

Will they grow up to be professional softball players, probably not. So with your logic, what should kids do with their spare time? Surely not take piano lessons, because they won't be professional pianists.

We are going to knock to individuals just because they want to help their daughters succeed at soemthing they like, just because they happen to be Park Commisioners?
