Why do white people adopt Asian babies?

My brother and I saw a middle aged white woman today with a little Asian girl who was obviously Chinese. My brother states that Whites adopt Asians because they are prejudiced and don't want a Black (or even Hispanic) child - our skin and especially our hair is too different. I say it's mainly because the Chinese don't mind practicing female infanticide. He says that's the Chinese gov's problem, not ours, and that adoption of foreign babies should be allowed. I've read on other boards where people believe that Whites adopt Asians out of racism over Black children and am beginning to think my brother is right.

I don't agree with what your brother sez.I have a white neighbor whos daughter adopts black babies every couple of years.She has even adopted black kids from other countries.

I feel it's a persons right to adopt what ever race child they want too.I can understand a young couple who have tried to have a child and can't would want their own skin tone child.

As long as there are babies that need to be adopted, then it's all good if they go to a loving home.My only hope would be if ie.. a white couple adopted a black baby,that they teach that child about both races and not just the color they are.

If children are taught about the many colors of people in this world it would be a much better world for all.

I could be wrong but I think people want infants and while there are a look of black kids that need homes not a whole lot of infants. I really think people feel sorry for the chinese girls because there is so many and they are not wanted. I saw a show on how they keep them in the orphanage and it is terrible.

But I think race does have a lot to do with it. If I had the choice I would take the chinese girl over a black child. I think it would be more accepted. I could be way off but that is how I feel.

China has a one child policy. If you have more than one child (in most areas) you are fined depending on your salary, you have to pay more for health care and schooling, just to name a few.

Because they do not want, or cannot afford to be fined, alot of Chinese abandon their babies. Also, it's harder/more expensive to adopt a baby from the US too.

This is a little off topic but has anyone ever heard of asian parents adopting a white baby? I've never seen it (which is not to say that it doesnt exist) but i wonder why?

Asian people don't want the kids they have. Plus white babies are to hard to get. I think you missed the whole point of the forum. White people are adopting asian and black babies because the cannot get a white one, wake up.

to tell you the truth I am planning on adopting and I could care less if they are white, black, purple, gay, straight.

people need to wake up and realize that all children need homes its not just black and asian...there are many white children up for adoption that are just too "old". i think people who would like to adopt need to not be so picky on race and age.

This is part of it, also I know a couple that adopted 2 children from Equador, I think but in that area. And some countries have really really strickt(sp) adoption laws. Even as far as how much a person weighs depends on if they are eligible or not.

And from what they told me, America is a VERY hard place to adopt a baby.

When White people adopt White babies, you would have no idea. You only can conclude when someone is adopted when the parents are of different ethnicity than the baby. So you see more Whites adopting Asian babies. There are a lot of stereotypes that Asian babies are easier to care for and excel in schools. Only ask any teacher and they will tell you who is doing well in school. There could also be exotic factors, etc. Face it, Asia has always carried its own mystique and exoticism. Angelina Jolie looks exotic with her Thai/Cambodian tattoos and adopted Asian kids. People who are adopting now are of the age where Black children may be stereotyped in negative ways. I figure as time passes you will see more Black babies being adopted by Whites of the next generation.

But what I want to know is since people are making such an issue as to why Whites do not adopt as many Black babies, how many Blacks actually adopt Black babies when they do adopt?

Its the same for whites who adopt white kids, you would never know. So for blacks who adopt black children, you would never know it unless they told you.

I think you are and idiot!! Me and my husband are both white and would love to adopt a black boy and an asian girl!!! Who cares about the color of the skin! When you are not able to have kids of your own you as the infertile couple, could care less about the skin color! The child could be blue and you would be ecstatic over that little baby in your life!

I don't think people are racists just because they prefer to adopt babies from certain races over another. Yes who cares about the color of skin, but we still can choose which baby we would like to adopt. If I want to adopt White and Asian babies over Black babies, it doesn't mean I hate Black people. These are not mutually exclusive choices. If I preferred to attend Stanford University over Howard University does that make me a racist? Respect people's choices because it's just as bad forcing people to adopt Black babies out of political correctness if that's not someone's choice.

Babies are all beautiful. And all should have a loving home. Find a community that will except a child that looks different than your race. LA, has many Asian. What if you live in a small farm town in Indiana? Where there are few? Or live in a almost all white community say in Southern Illinois? You can be the best parent in the world, but the world is still cruel. Is that fair for the child? You maybe the best parent in the world, but how does the child feel? I think all adopted child have issues you have to address. You don't know unless you are in that childs shoes on the playground. I have a friend who has a 1/2 german english 'white' child and a hispanic Father. The dad brought him to WalMart with his female mexican cousin. The boy wanted an expensive basketball that the Dad didn't have money for. He was 4 yrs old and started screaming and crying and having a ' fit". Someone actually called security on him thinking this hispanic couple kidnapped this kid. And he was the Father! It must be hard, when the child feels , people look at him like he is of a different race., other than the parents. You can't control the rest of the world. And love doesn't always conquer all. Also, Asians are very good in school, especially in Math, because the parents taught them., to value education. It is not hereditary.
