I just heard that they had to cancel a raffle because there was an issue with missing funds. Also I heard that they are also going to redo the school entrence and church? How are they paying for this? I thought things would change, but it is still a mess and looks like business as usual. Funny how things never change.

Part of what it takes to be Catholic. We have always done things that way. There are other Churches out there you know.

why don't you get your facts straight before spreading gossip?? The raffle was cancelled NOT because of missing money, but because of LACK OF TICKET SALES! That means, not enough tickets were sold before hand and they didn't want to put out more money and effort and have it be a bust, NOT that money was missing. Sounds like you are just negative and always will be negative about Damian, your option, but please, check your facts before spreading rumors!

Maybe they don't need anymore money. It was on the news last night that the Catholic church has spent over $30 billion in settlements for there pedophile priests and there is over 20 current cases pending. They have plenty of money to protect their own.

Glad you drank the cool aid. Believe what you want, but I would check your facts.

Can you please supply where exactly you got your facts from then since you seem to know it all? Maybe I am mistaken, I am going on just what was said in the phone blast. Maybe the "whole story" is not being supplied. If you, however, have legitimate facts that can be found somewhere, please share. Thank you

I spoke with both an employee and a school board member. I believe them over the current administrtation and what comes out there. I am a long time parent and have seen such a deterioation. I want it go back to what it was but am not seeing it.

I agree their is a lot of funny busniness with everything that is going at St. Damian. The pastor and principle is taking us down.

I will ask a school board member then. The principal just started, so I would say the pastor has more to do with "taking us down" than the principal.

go ahead. I am not scared, it sounds like you are part of the inner circle that will just cover up. Maybe you want to ask employees as well...oh wait, you are probably one them as well. There is a bunch of us who know the truth.

Somebody fill me in on what I'm missing. Who is forcing anyone to attend St.Damian? I sent my children there to recieve a Catholic based education. If it were the perfect place you wouldn't be able to get in. It is what it is. I have a difficult time finding a Christian posting let alone someone speaking as a Catholic.

Ok, I did not say that I would ask a school board member as a "threat." It was simply meaning that i will talk to a school board member and see what they have to say, taking your advice, since you said that you heard "the truth" from a board member. And, no, I am not an employee or part of the "inner circle." I believe, just from looking at the calendar, that there is a school board meeting coming up, why don't you attend and bring your concerns out in the open? Just a thought.

don't listen to people's negativity about someplace others value... its a personal choice. if you want answers then attend meetings and join on a board - become a part of the solution. Its that simple.

I am just concerned about hearing the following printed in the bulletin on January 9....

"and school operating debt accrued last year, fiscal year 2009-2010 of
$25,000 due to the shortfall in fundraising revenue. The total debt balance is presently over $130,000.00."

Then the cancellation of the fundraiser, there just seems to be a lot of fishy things going on. I think St. Damian is in trouble, just my opinion.

the tickets were $60 or $100, depending on if you wanted to use a computer or not. I think it was too close to the holidays. My opinion is that some of the people on the board who decides these things have not had to face the same financial struggles that most of us have so they don't take financial hardships into consideration when planning these things. People can only give so much, no matter how much they want to.

I hate that I am being blamed by both the school and the parish when I pay my bills on time. I am paying tuition giving to the church and the cost is what it is b/c my family choose it. If I can't afford cable guess what I cancel it. I don't like being blamed by the pastor, administration, or anybody else. If they can't live within their means, then guess what those people shouldn't be running a school or parish or anything else. This is very disappointing and quit telling me I don't have the right to speak my mind. Because some disagree with me, doesn't mean I can't say what I feel or speak. There are many of us unhappy with St. Damian and we want it to get better. The people there aren't doing the job and we need a change.

The original post had me laughing hysterically. I guess the school can only go so long on this site
on this site without someone posting ridiculous gossip that has no merit and watch as others fan the flames.

Damian has a new princiPAL this year and a new Pastor coming in this June. Religious Ed director is also new. How much more change can you get? I am looking forward to fresh faces. I already see improvement this year.

LancerParent....do something constructive instead of posting crap on this web site. Go to a church board meeting or better yet- a school board meeting and "speak your mind". How else is it going to get "better" as you say? Did you go to "meet the principal night"? What steps have you taken?

It is quite easy to sit at a computer and launch accusations. If the school is that bad, do something about it!
