I spoke with Sgt. Beatty and he told me the boy was 14 and it was on the family's residential property (157th St.) that he was found. If you want more details about this incident, I would suggest you call or e-mail Sgt. Beatty (rbeatty@oak-forest.org) for additional information. My heartfelt prayers are with this family as I have had suicide and attempted suicides in my own family over the years. May God's blessings envelope all who are affected by this tragic event. |

You ask, why? Sometimes that question will never be answered as we can never be in another person's head when they decide to take their own lives. A building up of many things during a person's life can lead to suicide. A traumatic emotional or physical event can lead a person to the breaking point. The pressure becomes so unbearable and suicide becomes their only answer in stopping it. I could go on and on about this subject, but this is enough to at least begin understanding why. Stay safe, stay well! |

I was good friends with the kid that hung himself but nobody really knows why he did it. Some say he was on drugs others say his mom and dad had problems but never let him know and when he found out he commited suicide.

Chris had started Freshman year High School this year. I had heard he was suspended two weeks after school started because a girl accused him of sexual misconduct.
A court date was scheduled on Monday morning, Sept. 29th. When Christopher's mom got up to get him ready for court, she found him hanging from a tree. I don't know if any of this is true, or what really happened between Christopher and this girls alleged accusation. A neighbor consulted me. Our family knew Chris but hadn't seen him in over a year. Sometimes we all had McDonald's together; we didn't see any signs of drug abuse. He was a handsome boy with lots of potential. This is a tragic and very sad thing. |

sometimes I get provoked!

Sometimes we hear things that aren't true, or the information we get from others isn't exactly correct. No matter why he did it, it's sad that it happened and that he felt that he had no one to turn to. Let's just pray for his soul and his family he left behind. |

I believe the problem at school came when he threatened a teachers life. I pray this boy has found peace.

I am deeply shaken by this incident. His mother found him...That is so tragic, so undescribably tragic. I feel very deeply for his mother. He may have suffered from depression and it was not noticed. The other incidents may have been an indicator. I read in the prior post that he had threatened a teacher's life and that there was possibly some incident with a girl, the court date....I feel so bad for this. None of these things are worth his life - none of them. I will pray for him and for his mother and his family. Please God, help them make it through this very difficult time; support them and guide this young boy to your house where he may be forever in peace.

Oh how sad and so very true.... whatever the events were that can cause a 14 year old boy to hang himself... please folks.... talk to your kids. What may seem like small potatoes to you is a very real big deal to them. I knew Christopher. He was not a model child, but what child is? This didn't have to happen.

May he rest in peace...my thoughts go out to his family and friends along with his older brother and sister. I can not even begin to imagine the pain they are suffering. RIP Christopher

It was his Dad's girlfriend that found him. His mom doesn't live there. his parents are divorced. And it wasn't on his property it was his neighbors. i knew him pretty good and he was smart. i just wished his parents had cared.

Dear friend, sometimes it seems to teenagers that their parents don't care; but really they do. Sometimes they don't know how to express their love for their child; but they do love their child. Sometimes it seems that the parents are just too self absorbed with their own stuff and don't notice that their child needs help; in reality they notice that something is wrong but they don't know what to do about it or they cannot understand what is troubling their child. I feel so sorry that you friend saw no othe way out except that. I wish there was a way to reach all the young people who feel that way; but only the ones who are close to them even get a chance. |

Christopher... his name means Christ-bearer - one who carries Christ. Who would presume to judge this deeply troubled young man - or his family and friends - for this fatally desperate action? There is one thing I can say for absolute sure: In his death he will certainly bear Christ. Every time a tragedy such as this hits the news, Godly parents all over the country reassess their relationships with their children. For every tragic death such as Christopher's there will be many such deaths PREVENTED by increased parental LOVE and scrutiny. Who can fathom the pain of Christopher's family? Who can fathom the grace, forgiveness, compassion and wisdom of a God who has received the spirit of a precious 14 year old boy - a God Who will surely produce an abundance of Love and Sweetness even through such a heart-rending tragedy. To Christopher's family I - and the many many folks for whom my heart now speaks - WE ARE WITH YOU - and we extend to you our deepest sympathy and our most sincere prayers toward the healing that WILL return Light to your broken hearts. We Love You.

Judged: 3 1 1 This whole thing is a shame. Sorry, but his parents need to shoulder ALOT of the blame for this....Those poor poor kids. These kids were pretty much left to fend for themselves by both parents. Their mother pretty much forgot about them once she got a new boyfriend and the dad was no better. Shame on the parents. |

I knew Chris's older brother and sister pretty well. I don't know what could have pushed him to do this. He threatened a teacher.. not a girl. "sad in oak forest".. god bless you chris. i'll post funeral arrangments when i hear about them.

Judged: 3 3 3 Meadows from Mokena says ALOT of blame should be placed on his parents. Apparently you knew their situation well. What did you do to make a difference in their lives? Apparently nothing, or your attemts failed. If you made attempts to touch their lives and failed God bless you. If you didnt look in the mirror and say maybe if I did we wouldnt be laying little Cris to rest. |
