Well then DE you should go Storm...they have great facilities that they rent, their fees are only 3x what OFBA are, and you will get to be someone over there.

Let's move on here, there is nothing new to talk about here so let's get on with out lives. There are many organizations you can go to TP Bulldogs, and of the Travel Groups and many of these are out of this town.

Pick one and move on - OFBA won't change, Park will not change and it seems that you will not change!

the park district doesn't run oak forest baseball, they just maintain the park fields..baseball is it's own entity As for baseball it has been out of control for the last 20 years..so like the baseball nut said~go somewhere else and enjoy the game.

How do we vote these bastards out! I don't recall getting a letter to vote. I would like the city to step up and put residents running for ofba on the next ballot. Every citizen should have the right to vote, not these shh shh quiet votes under the table.

Why would the whole city be involved in these votes? The membership of OFBA needs to go and vote for Board Members that will do the right thing, not self serving individuals.

I agree the ones with a vote are those with a stake...those are the fmailies with kids in the basbell program. If the parenst and families do not like how things are run, more need to get involved. It is not the cities job to police community programs anymore than it is if they got involved with raiders of high school boosters. The program runs with those who pay to have kids in the program, they are the stake holders here.

How dumb can you get. The City Government does not have any stake in OFBA. OFBA has it's own elections with the paying membership who have children playing in the league voting. I figure Resident is not one of them, and probably does not even reside in Oak Forest. Elections are well publicised by e-mail and other means to all voting members. OFBA is under it's own not-for-profit charter with the State of Illinois and neither the City, nor the Park District has any jurisdiction. If you have to use language like you do it shows a lack of vocabulary. Clean it up.

Hey let's just move on from this there is nothing to gain here!! OFBA tried to do what it needs to do for the kids. Cooperstown folks run around like they are the only ones playing, but that is the same mode that the Storm uses. This league is only as good as the folks to step up and volunteers. They have had their problems with previous Boards and some suspicious actions, but that goes way back. Hopefully this board has learned from the mistakes! Although many of the crazy folks are the ones that moved on into the high school and are on that board. Too Too Bad you just cannot get rid of some of them!!

Posters who defamed two former OFBA board members by name had better beware. Read the following

Topix said that if the line has been crossed and it seems reasonable, Topix will cooperate with the courts.
The authors of comments on the Topix.com Web site were secure in believing they were anonymous, however, a judge ruled their names should be revealed.

I do not see names in any of the above posts, where are you seeing the naming of names of folks?

OFBA has changed their by-laws and now changed them again, it listed on their website. If the people that belong to OFBA want to change any of it they will have to go to the monthly meetings and make changes as identified by the by-laws.

If individuals have done something in the organization that is not legal then someone should send the information to the Atty. General's Office.
I am not privy to the direction of this organization or how it provides for all the children under its umbrella, but it is not correct to debate the good and bad in this forum. If someone has a bone to pick then they should raise it with the organization and if not satisfied go to the Park District.

The Park District may not have legal authority to do anything about the organization, but they have a responsibility to protect the children that play on the fields.

Why is this even an issue? The league is in season and playing so what is the point of mentioning any of these items from a past post?

Some people will like what is being done and some will not like it. If the group in charge are taking care of all of the members kids then they are doing what they should be doing. If they are not and only taking care of a few teams or kids then it is no better then the problems that were pointed out in the past. And all of the folks that could not follow the rules seem to be the ones that have gone on to play with the Storm.

So if you think it is better great keep making it better, if you do not, take some time and figure out how best to make things change! Throwing out names or complaints without facts only make it look like a crazy self serving problem that continues to fester!

"And all of the folks that could not follow the rules seem to be the ones that have gone on to play with the Storm."

Are you kidding? So the people that left for the Storm are the rule-breakers and the good guys all stayed with OFBA? There are some fine people involved with OFBA, but let's face facts, some of the people in charge have turned OFBA into a for-profit family business. Their average talent kids have been boosted to superstar status, based on their daddies being on the board.

Did they let out all of the patients from the Tinley Health Center out and they all moved to Oak Forest and are now having children? Give it up will all of you, this is supposed to be for the children. Many of the current Storm coaches are nothing but hacks and thieves, if OFBA are the same, then bring the kids to Tinley, we will take care of those children.

Let's be truthful, both of these organizations are composed of volunteers who do this service free of charge for the residents of Oak Forest, perhaps you should go over to the cages and see the huge project that is going on at no cost to OFBA, and done by volunteers donating their time. Bet we haven;t seen you there. Why don't the detractors just move on, and let the kids play ball for whatever team they want. Come on folks, let the kids play ball and move on.

It is an issue only because posters should not defame people on any blog and they should know that they are no longer safe from a defamation lawsuit according to at least a couple of judges. I think these people who post names, and make accusations without proof should be brought to justice, and it looke like some of them will be.
