I did check the site over and over again just to see how this could have happened. I saw NO skid marks. A question I keep having is when did she brake, before or after she hit him? And her eyes could not have been on the road or she would not have "had to look up" (words used by the detective) to see him. I beleive "when she looked up he looked at her and she looked at him). Please explain this. With having said the above I do feel for her and do not want to add to her pain, but I would like to understand what happened. There is no way he ran in front of her nor did he jump into the street.

Also, the title of this news story is "Man Struck, killed WHILE crossing the street" WHILE ... which means he was already in the street... how can you not notice someone in the street unless you are inattentive, which borders on reckless!!!!

Really, seriously ... we are making her life hell, by posting our thoughts on this website ... she KILLED someone and she has no repercussions! Nothing... we on the other hand go on living without our loved one. He had a wife of over 30 years!!! but sorry for making your life hell by simply posting... maybe, at the very least an apology is in order by the person who took his life.

Also I just noticed that you originally responded to my questions to Adam. I was not accusatory at all and really do not appreciate your tone or language in replying to my questions.

HIS KILLER MADE OUR LIFE HELL THE MOMENT SHE KILLED OUR FAMILY MEMBER. DON'T TRY TO SAY WE ARE MAKING HER LIFE HELL. SHE TOOK AWAY A LIFE AND GOT AWAY WITH IT COMPLETELY. YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY A FAMILY MEMBER/GOOD FRIEND OF HERS SINCE YOU'RE MAKING EXCUSES FOR A KILLER. SHE TOOK A MAN'S LIFE! HOW IS ANYONE MAKING HER LIFE HELL?!? FYI: THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY HER EYES WERE ON THE ROAD THE ENTIRE TIME. THE DETECTIVE EVEN SAID SHE HAD "LOOKED UP" BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. HMMM.. YOU MUST BE THE 17 YR-OLD PASSENGER.

Adam, you can contact us off this line at [email protected] You don't have to get involved but the family would really like to know what exactly happened. You being right behind her may help us deal with our loss.
Who would try to negatively judge family trying to contact someone who witnessed the last moments of their loved one's life?

I'm not on here to point fingers. I can't fathom the pain and confusion this man's family is going through right now, and my heart sincerely goes out to them.
I know the young woman who struck this man, I've spoken to her about what happened, and in all the 10 years I've known her, I've never seen her so consumed with grief. If she veered left, she'd hit oncoming traffic, if she veered right, she'd run into a bar. Her cell phone has no call or text history indicating she was using it at the time of the accident. The police can confirm this. All she could do was brace herself and brake til her life depended on it. It's a miracle she survived, never forget that. Two lives could have been lost.
Of course being attentive is key to driving-- is it not key to stepping out onto a street?
Like I said, I'm not trying to lessen what happened here, and I in no way shape or form want to disregard the family and friends of this late mans grieving, but I just wanted to let everyone know how suffering spreads to more than just those victimized in such incidents.
You say if she would have veered left it be oncoming traffic... if right the bar... the bar again was more than 50 feet away, but if he was on the shoulder and she veered right she would hit him... he was crossing and that is why the statement veered right... he was in the street already... how about stopping as a choice? If she would have hit the bar and if that is her statement that suggests that she was speeding... only if she was speeding would she have hit a bar that was more than 50 feet away...

"If she veered left, she'd hit oncoming traffic, if she veered right, she'd run into a bar."

The bar, Jazzbro's, is like 50 feet off the shoulder of HWY 32. Your statement, Allie, suggests that your friend was speeding...

Why didn't she just STOP? The roads were not slippery... She was obviously speeding if she saw Eugene, braked, and skidded right into him causing SO much damage. He died immediately since his aorta was ruptured, among many other things. This was a HORRIBLE accident. Eugene was simply trying to cross the street. There are pedestrian warning signs right where he was crossing!!!! And he was ALMOST home.. he didn't make it home due to this young girl who decided to speed & not pay attention..

Actually, the bar itself, JazzBros, is MORE than 50 feet away from the road. Eugene was already crossing HWY 32, just trying to get to the sidewalk.

The bar is on South Chicago Road, right off of Puetz Road since some of you obviously have no idea where this fatal "accident" even occured.

Normal people get citations for not wearing a seatbelt. This 20 yr-old Oak Creek female, however, did not get charged nor did she even receive ONE SINGLE citation for killing a human being. Where is the justice in this?!? Someone.. please tell me. I guess if you have "connections" or a ton of money, you can get away with anything, including killing someone.

It is also illegal to walk AGAINST the traffic. What is a pedestrian suppose to do then, fly to the other side where there are sidewalks and he'd be walking LEGALLY with the traffic?

This accident didn't happen by Forest Home. First of all, the road you are talking about is called Forest Hill. Secondly, this accident happened off of Puetz in front of JazzBros. There is a pedestrian warning sign EXACTLY where he was crossing. Sorry, he's not correct. Eugene was on his way home, only a couple blocks from where he was killed.. so we all know the area VERY well.

Again, Eugene was a 77 yr-old man who walked extremely slow.. at the pace of a turtle/snail. As a pedestrian, walking exactly where the pedestrian caution sign was, he had the right of way. I believe that if this young girl had her eyes on the road the entire time, this fatality would not have occured. Eugene's family had to identify his body via photograph. His family and friends never even had the chance to pay their last respects by blessing his body correctly since the funeral had to be closed casket. I also feel that this 20 yr-old female must not be too remorseful, for if I had hit and killed someone, I would be begging the family for forgivenance. She has not even done so.

We (Eugene's family) asked OCPD to look at her cell phone records. They told us that they would obviously need a warrant to do so. However, they stated that they would NOT do so because they had no reason to. Your statement is false since they never even checked her cell phone records. We, Eugene's family, feel that this was not a proper investigation - at all. So, you are actually the one assuming things - not us. Also, have you ever heard the saying, "Show me who you walk with and I'll show you who you are"? Your character is very demeaning and reflects on the character of your friend -- my family member's killer.

OK - This is becoming a little too vicious for me.

Young Lady - I am sorry I don't know your name but I would like to reach out and let you know that I DO forgive YOU for ACCIDENTALLY hitting my uncle. I do believe that you are in a lot of pain yourself and that you did not leave home that day with the intent of hitting someone with your car. Unfortunately accidents do happen. I just wanted to understand what happened. As I stated in my earlier comments, many questions were raised because of the comments made by the detective to the family. I do hope that you can overcome this and not be haunted by the look on his face as the two of you looked at each other. I believe that although my uncle will be missed, he is now resting peacefully.

Monika - I feel sorry for the girl as well; however, I feel that she must not have much remorse for what she did. She has not even apologized to any of us for killing Papa. While her friends are writing disrespectful comments on here, she is not commenting about how truly sorry she is. Yes, accidents do happen, but I still feel this could have been easily prevented had her eyes been on the road. Don't forget that there is an assisted living facility right across from the bar as well. Driver's should be more aware of their surroundings.. This whole thing is not fair. He was taken away from us so unexpectantly.. This should not have happened.

Who am I kidding? Honestly, I really cannot say I feel sorry for her. When there is proof that she is actually remorseful for what she did to my family, maybe I'll be able to feel sorry for her. I'm sure she will be haunted by this for the rest of her life. I would be.. However, while she is alive, a member of my family is gone. I believe an apology is in order at the very least.

The person who killed Eugene is Stephanie Andresen - previously a resident of Oak Creek, WI. She had opiates and marijuana in her system when she killed Eugene. This is a fact as it is stated in the police report. She did not even receive a single citation. This has impacted my family greatly. Eugene was like a father to Dominik. Dominik hasn't been the same since this tragedy occured.. Ms. Andresen got away with killing a person because she is a white female with $$. Well, her family has $$ and obviously know people. This is not fair. Justice needs to be served. He left behind two daughters in their 30s, a wife, and four grandchildren - one he never even had the pleasure to meet, but he has Eugene's eyes (gorgeous blue ones). RIP. I always think of you and wish things could have been differently. You know what I mean. Anyway, I love you!
