this a eas solution to the problem pass a law that you can't get a drivers license until you are 18
|

Why should a law be passed that a person can't obtain a license before turning 18?
Teens, young adults and adults all speed, drive without seat belts and wreck. If the law was changed and a high number of 18 and 19 year olds started to have accidents then you would want the age raised to 21. Teens have to be taught responsibility and if their parents can't do that then they shouldn't be allowed to get their license. Parents have one year for their children to drive with them and 14 years prior to be good examples behind the wheel for their children. Responsibility is the key word. |
||||
Well not JUST responsibility-lack of experience is a big factor too. And to add to it -you have 16,17, 18 year olds who think they're invincible. |

Teach them also it is possible to drive without a cell phone stuck to their ear.

I thought that targeting one particular group of people was called "profiling".
|
|||
Exactly what I thought. This is age-based discrimination. |

I feel safer, dont you?
NCHP has lost all respect of the people. |

one way to make money, my 17 year old friend got a speeding ticket, it cost 170 dollars. Court costs and everything. HP pulled him over on Sand hill school road. It was snowing real bad one day, and this car was flipped over on its roof and about a half a mile up the road sat a State Trooper.. Pulling someone over..

Only thing reported here was teens caught, them targeting a area road close to a high school is not profiling, they were stopped for speeding or seatbelts. Now I have a teen in high school, and on a few occasions I needed to pick him up from school, what some of you don't realise is how many parents pick these kids up also, and they speed, don't wear seatbelts either. The line to any school is so long that parents line up 30 mins. before school is out . Parents and kids think they can't ride a bus, that is a crock, after getting off work early and driving to her school at about 2:300 for her go to a doctors appointment a long line of cars was already there, drove on the wrong side of the road just to get to the school. Then empty parking places were blocked by these cars. My kids ride a school bus, at times like with my daughter they don't, if you think the line I passed were going to a appointment you are mistaken, they will be there everyday, they jusy make it hard for those of us trying to get someone to a appointment and that think public transportation of our children is a good idea.
Looking at all drivers that leave a school area is great with me, I've seen both the teen drivers and the parents driving a teen acting like fools, this report did not report on the older drivers that had same charges against them. I think you teach by example, and even doing so does not mean your kids will do so, also you teach that by not driving safely that the cost of driving is more, my kids know they will pay for insurance, upkeep, etc. on their car, they know what happens if they have a driving violation and what that costs, and they acually work and have bank accounts. Nothing is handed to them, their parents help them yet don't just give everything to them, they know real life and understand it, if you do wrong there are things that happen. Be that the wrong way to drive or whatever, IMO it is more of a parent problem of those that don't teach this to their kids. My son works fast food on weekends, one of those weekends a month pays his cell phone bill plus he has a few dollars left over, his sister was added to that account, she only pays the additional charge, he is a good brother and she is younger, she does babysitting, guess toddler sitting is better description. Now how many kids do you know that pay their own cell phone bill? Teaching your kids real life is good for them, a older brother still paying what his cost of a phone and just say OK she just pays the rest which is like less than half of his, and when after all that they still have $$$ left over. I am blessed, I have a job, I have great children, I have good health, I look forward to another day of living life. The best part is if my kids read this they would understand that it is both the parents and the kids that are the problem. Profile that Sgt. Youth is as it is because of who brought them into this world, then again some do wrong even with good parenting. |

,,and it was announced prior to that by the AC-Ts. Is that a stumper? |

ACT just didn't report as it was, others than teens got tickets also.

If this isn't taught from the parents or teachers, it won't be learned from the police. I'm not sure if we should put the moral and financial burden on the police to try to teach this to our children. It's unfortunate that parents don't teach the importance of wearing seatbelts. But they should. |

I agree Buck. A lot of Driver's Ed. instructors don't even obey the laws. |

True. Police are not teachers; their job is to enforce the law. Unfortunately society unrealistically expects them to do more than enforce the law. If police were only expected to do what they are (realistically) supposed to do, there would be less conflict with police. Unfortunately, society is not as clean-cut and simple as it should be. |
