The Real End of This World...2012?

I'm friends with a professor who has studied religion for the last thirty years. He as a doctorate in religion and we talk often. He is telling me that a long time ago...the first pope...Peter the First....made an historical prophecy. This first pope.... named all the future popes to come...in order...and gave their names. This first pope also prophecied that there would only be 112 popes....and that the last one would be named Peter also.
Does anyone know about any of this? We have had 111 popes so far..so according to the professor..there will only be one more.
The doctor also discusses with me the Mayan calendar and how it predicts our world will end in 2011 or 2012.
I've heard many predictions about the world endng in my life...but IF the next pope is named Peter...I will sit up and take notice. You see...the cardinals chosen to be pope have their OWN names...and then when they are chosen..they PICK a name for themselves....and this next pope is supposed to be the last...what will happen to the catholic religion after that..I don't know....but the prophecy is that after number 112..there will be no more popes.
Other mysterious stories have arisen..one is that a day will come when this earth suddenly reverses its poles..and everything will be torn from the earth...and obviously..we will all be history. Anyone know about this story? I know I also remember a poem i read in college about some terrible occurance coming to us after 20 centuries. Does anyone know this poem?

I know there are many stories about the world ending..and the bible says no man knoweth the hour or something like that..but what if it IS known..but the being that knows is not a man...an alien? The Bible DOES clearly say their were beings called the "nephilim" on this earth..and it clearly denotes that they came from some where else....
Does anyone know anything about any of this?

And finally..Bible prohecy says that "the generation that see Israel become a nation....will see God."
Israel became a nation in 1948! So does that mean anyone alive or born at that time will see God according to the prophecy? So does that mean we only have untl at the latest 2048? Because one hundred years is pretty much the longest we can live.

Also...I read some where in the bible that NEAR the end of time..."great wonders wil be done in the sky"..such a space flight..and airplanes....and also that "chariots will be drawn without horses"...automobiles.... and also that "when the cedars of lebanon have all been cut down...yea.. the time is nigh"
Are the cedar trees all cut down? If so..when did this happen?

So what does anyone have to say about any of this? Is there any knowledge anyone can share?

To CLASS OF 1979 from CLAWSON MICHIGAN...Well..Clawson...I'm not actually PREDICTING the end of the world. I'm merely stating some revelations I have come across. And I make no attempt to join the many predictors for the end of the world...but why don't you do a little research and REALLY add to this debate by finding out if I am correct or not concerning the 112 popes and the story behind it?
By the way..what the hell are YOU still doing in Michigan? I CAN predict the end of Michigan...your state is in REAL trouble. Its the FIRST state to suffer the actions of the new "global Village" otherwise secretly known as "THE NEW WORLD ORDER" in which the auto industry has been snatched from Michigan and transplanted to China...so now your state has no income anymore...and they have this HUGE yearly prison expense and no way to pay it. Michigan COULD cut costs by REPEALING that silly and useless "truth in sentencing" law they made a few years ago when they DID have the money to support it..but now they simply cannot afford to keep people locked up for the full durartion of their sentences..so they need to REPEAL the law and begin giving prisoners a good day for a day served like most sensible states do..and then Michigan might have some money left over for their EDUCATION FUND...DUH!
Everybody knows if you educate people..they have a better chance of staying out of
prison...Michigan likes to keep its own people from getting an education..so they can put them into the NEW largest industry in Michigan..the industry of PRISON and PRISON SPENDING. Your state is history..and in another decade it won't even be a state..but it will be a "territory." What a shame...your leaders are too judgmental..and God has come to slap the shit out of them.
Unbfortunately..the people of Michigan will have to suffer also.

Gee people....I'm NOT predicting the end...I'm trying to get an interesting forum going here...and I'm only ASKING if anyone ELSE has heard of any of this pope stuff. I just wonder what OTHER people think, I'm just a union carpenter..how could I predict the end of the world? I just have an interest in these types of subjects..and I"m looking for others who might have the same interest...so I'll ask again..does anybody know this story about there only being 112 of them and then no more?

Here is the way I see things. We all know that judgment day will come. We don't know when. If you want to hear God laugh, just tell him your plan. If the last pope is named Dominic in lieu of Peter that is not a guarantee that judgment day is not in our near future. Is it going to be in 5 years or 500,000 years, who knows? So live each day like it is your last. Keep a bag packed including toothbrush just incase of rapture. And remember if you deprive yourself of true happiness - you will regret it for eternity.

Cousin Vinney, I do not FEAR the end...or worry WHEN it will come...and I live humbly...with faith....and hope...and a fair amount of trust and belief. Of course we can't do one single thing about even the next hour in front of us.
In college my history professor told us there were TWO views to history..one was the accidental view...and the other was the conspiratorial view...and he told us he was going to teach the accidental view because he didn't believe it was possible for History to be PLANNED or have a conspiracy....however stories like the 112 popes being predicted a long time ago..and all the subsequent names being correct and in order so far..make one wonder sometimes....and many questions arise on this earth...why...for instance...as I was growing up and attending church all through my young years...were we not told in detail about the Nephilim mentioned in Genesis...WHY also...did the three most significant things in our history happen in A 1945...the dropping of the bomb...B 1947 the Roswell crash...and C 1948 Israel becoming a nation. Ihave read that when the bomb was dropped..it could be seen from a great distance off Earth that we now had the capacity to destroy ourselves...THUS the ability to destroy the Nephilim that still roamed this earth..that is..those who fell from heaven...and since God would not allow his own to be destroyed as no father would...he sent representatives to earth once more..this time they arrived in Roswell...and then according to biblical prophecy...Israel had to become a nation soon after...
This is not stuff that scares me or stuff that makes me live any less...it is just interesting.
I don't think people are looking close enough at certain things on ur planet...for instance..take Las Vegas...a pyramid sits there and shines a light ten miles into the night sky...and for some reason right here you can have any and all kinds of fun..anything yu can imagine..and the whole place is all lit up...PERHAPS to make sure people who come here stay cvery busy having so much fun that they do not pay attention to WHY the light shines ten miles into the night sky..or WHY nearby we have one of the most private govrnment areas in all the world..or WHY here we also have a very powerful protective air squadron that is on standby to guard and protect....WHAT?
And considering the conspiratorial view...LasVegas was planned along time ago when our government purposely caused a depression so they could get workers to build the Hoover dam for a reasonable cost...a long time ago. WHY? What did they KNOW was coming here?
And this stuff is all just very interesting fun for me..I know that what ever is going on ..I can't change....but something IS going on. Whats your view on some of this stuff?

Good evening all. First off, I would like to write that I too am interested in the discussion started by Donald. It would be a delight to continue chattin with you at [e-mail] as you seem to not only have a wealth of knowledge but you also have an intense desire for truth. I humbly ask you who wrote in stating that no man will know the day or hour of "the end" or "the return of Christ" to keep your head in the word of God. We must not trust what our churches have and continue to teach us. I can provide many scripture based examples but only need to go to one to make this point. I grew up in a christian baptist church and also went to a catholic school, so I got "religion" from many different areas. We as many of you were taught that the Bible states that no man can know the day or hour of "Christ's return" but have you ever read the Bible or searched the scriptures yourself to see if what you were taught was in line with the Bible??? Please look at 1 Thessalonians chapter 5. You will see that the first 2 verses set up the content. If you only read verses 1-3 you can come to the concluion that no man will know. But if you continue on, which it seems that preacher/teacher I ever studied under ever did. You will see that there will be a people who will be of light and will not be overtaken as a "thief in the night". So I humbly encourage those of you who "profess" to be "Christians" to put your religion aside and get back to your first love. Get back in the Word of God. Come to it humbly, in belief that it is the LIVING WORD OF GOD to you. They don't call the book "The Truth" for no reason.

Please if I came off harsh or offended you through this memo and apologize in advance as I'm not good at expressing the Spirit of Love that these words were written in. Again, Donald, thanks for your insight and it would be nice to pick your brain a bit more and possibly gain some wisdom and insight.

I am receiving complaints that my book, Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation into Civilization’s End, is causing a lot of fear. Nothing I have written in my 25-year career has caused so much distress as this book appears destined to do. Although my vision for 2012 has many positive, uplifting aspects, there is no denying the very scary side and for that I do apologize.

People already have more than enough to worry about, and I am truly sorry for any psychological and emotional discomfort my book may cause. I particularly regret burdening parents, whose worry-load for their children is barely manageable under normal circumstances, and also young people, who are supposed to have so much of their lives ahead of them.

But fear, though unpleasant, is not always a bad thing. It is downright helpful if it alerts one to the significant possibility of danger. That ancient Mayan prophecy and contemporary solar physics both point to the year 2012 as a potentially catastrophic year, is, by my lights, a significant possibility of danger. Better that we should be goaded now into preparing and defending ourselves than remain blissfully oblivious and get cosmic sucker-punched five short years from now.

Regardless of how much credence one places in predictions concerning 2012, the fact of the matter is that, at this point in history, our defenses are down, and no one is building them back up. Even after the unimaginable disaster that Hurricane Katrina wrought on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, there has been little preparation for what might come next. Is it your opinion that, in the area where you live, the public places where people might seek refuge – schools, auditoriums, athletic stadiums, etc.– have been adequately equipped with food, water, medicine and other necessities for survival?

True, FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency that so badly botched the New Orleans disaster relief operation, is in the process of being dismantled. But has a new and better relief organization taken its place? We are sitting ducks.

Lots of people have asked me what we can to prepare for 2012. That’s a tough one. If, God forbid, the events of 12/21/12 click the big “OFF” button in the sky and bring 10,000 years of human civilization to a halt, then there’s really no way to prepare for that except by readying one’s soul -- through prayer and meditation, love and respect for family and friends, generosity to community.

If nothing else, let the prospect of 2012 be the excuse for us all to prepare for catastrophe in real, practical ways. On an individual level, we can all make sure to get/update that earthquake kit, put up an extra jug of water and some non-perishable food, maybe a Bible and a box of games for the kids. Mentally rehearse a few questions, such as, if you had to evacuate immediately, whom would you take, where would you go and how would you get there.

Larry. I think it's great that you've written a book on this subject. But in your post here on this forum..you've failed to mention even ONE tiny example or excerpt from your book. Do you AGREE with anything I've mentioned in the beginning of this forum? OR disagree?

What exactly does YOUR book say will happen when the end comes? What events? The sudden reversing of the poles? World War? What events take placxe near the end in YOUR prediction..or in your book? Is it something a bottle of water and finding a place to go is going to fix? Please give a little more information. Thank you.

look i know a few things about this subject. For one, i know that most people that predicted the end of the world, have predidcted many other occurances as well. And mst of the people or psychics as they say, not saying i dont believe in psychics, weren't rich. And most of them didnt predict the future occurances for wealth. They did it because of their faith in their god. So you can't blame them for their money.... And also, i am more interested in the year 2012 because for one im gona be like 21 wen this happens but also because this is the last recording of some one to predict the end of the world that i know of. And ive learned of a few. But im not talkin about just some guy that said oh well i think the world will end in 1001 years. Im talkin about people who actually have a background of predicting things quite acurately... oh and about the poles thing. its not the geografical poles, but the magnetic poles instead. When this happens, there are predictions that an ice age will occur first then melt everything back in time.... plus anything electrical will be fried due to the reversing of the mag. poles..... yea thats about it...

but yea donald im like super interested in this subject as much as you, and maybe more... lol i remember once wen i was in a hotel, i saw a room number 2012, i wondered all day, "i wonder wats in that room..." but if i thought logically, i wud know its probably the same exact stuff thats in my room down the hall... but i mean it doesn't hurt to phylosophize... unless ur Socrates lol sry im a dork wen it comes to greek mythology... but any ways, iwould like to talk to you more about this subject, im sry of the lack of vocabulary im using but i AM only 15, but that doesnt change my perspective on life and stuff... trust me im alot more mature than alot of my friends... probably bc i hang out with alot of older people than any one... but thats not the point sry...
