New name for merging lakeshore hospitals: Mercy Health Partners

" This morning, the merger between Mercy General Health Partners and Hackley Health was approved by the parent company, Trinity Health of Novi, MI.

After all that Charles Hackley did for the Muskegon area, it seems a shame that more and more institutions are eliminating his name. For those of us who have lived here forever it is just kind of sad.

I agree! What are they going to do with the Hackley house, rename that too??

They aren't eliminating his name. You obviously didn't read the story because they are renaming Hackley Hospital to Hackley Campus.

I WORK FOR MGHP. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR MERCY HACKLEY HEALTH WOULD PROBABLY NOT EXIST IN A FEW MORE YEARS. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, THAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART IN THE MERGER BECAUSE BOTH HOSPITALS HAVE HISTORY THAT IS IMPORTANT TO THIS TOWN. CHANGE IS GOOD AND GOOD WILL COME FROM CHANGE. A LOT WILL CHANGE. BETTER CARE FOR OUT PATIENTS. MORE DOCTORS, MORE MONEY. BEFORE THIS CHANGE, WHEN INDIVIDUALS ARE LOOKING FOR A HOSPITAL OF CHOICE MERCY AND HACKLEY HAVE BEEN SO COMPETETIVE THAT PEOPLE CHOOSE SPECTRUM. WE ARE TRYING TO BECOME LARGE. I am not saying the Merger was not necessary. I am only saying that it is sad to see the Hackley name slowly disappearing from things - Hackley Bank, Hackley Hospital, etc. That name used to mean so much to this community. I hope they don't change Hackley House or Hackley Library. That is about all that is left.
