Dave, people like you, are the reason why all the businesses moved to the suburbs, "oh, well thats a prime location for this business, lets move out there," instead of trying to pull the people in the oulying areas back into the city, when is this gunna stop? We dont need a mall out here, and whats this gunna do? give people a false hope about jobs, theres plenty of other projects that could be worked on to give people jobs, like maybe fix some of the rickety old overpasses we have, or fix or rebuild the old buildings like the Hartland Plaza, instead of just leveling other parts.

Couple points...I believe that one rickety old overpass was recently repaired (59 & 23), there are some other plans in the works for the Hartland Plaza (check Hartland Twp website), the site is already "leveled" remember the former truck stop that was there? Also, "false hope for jobs"???? what do you mean? People would work there if it was built. Although I hope things turn for the better; with the way Michigan's economy has been going lately...you may soon get to see when 'this' is gunna stop. Finally, I drove by just today and saw environmental test borings being performed...that means that somebody addressing that issue - and paying the associated costs.

Dave i'm well aware of the site being "leveled" i've lived here all my life and used to go to breakfast and dinner at The Oasis. Which was once also co-owned by Darren McKarty of the RedWings. Yes the old overpass (59 and 23) was fixed however i'm talking more about inner city bridges and overpasses. Ie. more population, more use. When i say false hope for jobs, i mean short term. These types of low income jobs are not going to be able to support lifestyles. And are bound to end when this area is deserted, or quits growing, and tendents leave, or go out of business. Which would be soon. I aslo do not believe that like you said,""there are some other plans in the works for the Hartland Plaza (check Hartland Twp website), the site is already "leveled" remember the former truck stop that was there?"" the truck stop was on the Hartland Plaza site, you have your information wrong. And your from Canton, so your probobly from the devolopers who want to build this. Or your not, and your from Canton so why do you care anyway. But since you think that the Oasis was on that property, you've probobly been to the area once if not at all. So thanks for adding information to somthing that you know nothing about.

Exactly, who would have money to shop their anyway! NO ONE, i'm barely making it as it is, because of my job cuts, still have the job tho. But me and my family DO NOT need this mall. Its not going to help at all. We would not shop their, And its just going to make my life more stressfull with added traffic, people etc.

I have to drive through that intersection everyday to go to work. We DO NOT need the mall to add traffic, and i do not want my kids driving to school with the added traffic since the highschool would be right behind on the next block. I am also concerned that i will not be able to sit at a camp fire in my yard and see the stars anymore. WE DO NOT WANT THIS MALL. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED WITH EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THIS MALL. AND I DO NOT AND WILL NEVER SUPPORT IT.

Well now that this land has a new owner, maybe they'll be a little more "small town" freindly, and theres a bicentennial farm on the property, which is another issue i see in this project. Because i'm sure that this owner is not going to want to sell that off. And it would be horrible to destroy a bicentennial farm for a retail project.

I am from Hartland...this website just put Canton in there when I typed my first comment. The Hartland Plaza is across the street from the Oasis...at least that is what the sign says when I drive by it everyday to get to work. Also, I am aware of McCarty being a former owner, I actually did some work on this property and came across that. There are not just low wage jobs involved; I work for an environmental consulting/civil engineering company. And short-term jobs??? That makes no sense...why build anything, ever...if it will just be disserted one day. The old 'why change your underwear thing'. Anyway, I know what you some of you mean with some of your points...I spent 4 years in college getting a degree in environmental science/policy. Unfortunately, most people fall into the CAVEman category - Citizen Against Virtually Everything. Complaining about everything only hurts credibility. I hope the new owner has some good plans...and chances are I will support what they are doing (you people do know that the new owner is a large retail developer, right?), whatever they decide will be better for Michigan - there are more than the $7.50/hr jobs involved projects like this.

I hope that msysa puts their soocer fields there because that would be a real asset to the community dave, then the new hotel would make sence. I'm not against everything, just retarded sprawl, but msysa would be a great organization to put a complex in there.

And yes i'm aware that the new owner is a large developer, they built West Oaks in Novi, and many places in Florida and all over Michigan. But i'd just like to see somthing other then a large retail center like everywhere else has, its retarded, put somthing unique in there thats environmentally freindly for the most part and that is economically freindly as well....aka the msysa soccer fields. That would be a nice park and a great asset for the community. I'm aware of the CAVEman category too, and dont take me as one of those people, i'm just against aimless buiding, i think it needs to be smarter, not just like what happened to Novi. I dont even want to travel there anymore because of the traffic and amount of people, it was aimless building that occured there. And as a third generation in Hartland Township i dont want to see that happen to Hartland.

I like the idea of a mall for Hartland. I have to travel to Novi, Flint, or South of Brighton now. I favor the indoor type however, since this provides a nice place for seniors to walk in the winter. Shopping out in the cold in Brighton last winter was a terrible experience.
