A coyote is easy to mistake for a large dog. The bushy tail can be a giveaway. They are shy, but not always retiring. Keep something between you and the coyote. The problem is that they can sneak up on you and nip from behind. Then it's off for shots for you. I have seen them in Livonia and in Hines Park. Any coyote that gets too close to you is probably sick and could bite.
