" A letter and a copy of the draft ordinance have been sent to the city's 81 permitted massage therapy businesses. "
"Ninety-nine percent of our practitioners are doing everything right - massage is a legitimate business," he said. "It's the 1 percent of that elicit activity going on that the practitioners and the police department want to curtail."

And so - less then one massage business in San Rafael is offering sexual favors. In a time of financial crisis, this is important and worthy of government time and money expenditure - why?

I haven't cruzed the want-adds in a while but I remember when the local paper advertized massage.
I often wondered about that....so,all the law enforcements gotta do is turn to the classified section and look under the massage adds and Bingo! There you have it, that one percent! Problem solved.

Next time you're driving around San Rafael, keep your eye's peeled for the neon "Open" signs, then the "Massage," "Accupuncture," "Spa," etc. signs in the windows. I pass at least 5 off on 2nd and 4th Streets everyday. They are popping up everywhere. Go to Cragislist, Services, Adult, North Bay, San Rafael. You'll see adds for at least 5 places. Not that I have an issue with it per se, but for the legitimate businesses, this is a huge problem, and for the neighborhood it's an eyesore. Add these parlors to the homeless, illegals looking for work on the street corners, and overall increasing crime rate in SR and you have a big dump. Let's clean all of these up. Where's El Bozo?

Gotta love those Moronite cops who patrol to cite "provacative clothing." Reminds me of my time as an achitect in the Middle East.

If they're open and doing accupuncture at midnight, more power to them! And the 5 I pass are within a few blocks of each other.

Like I said, I don't have issues with these places per se, I also don't have issues with pot, that being said when I write my $10,000 property tax check, I'd prefer that I not have to drive my kids through the red light district full of neon Massage signs, drug addicts, homeless, and illegals. Just a preference I guess.

sensual massage is nothing more than an honest monetary transaction between consenting adults. There are many times after wasting another hundred dollar dinner on a marin county woman and getting nothing, I've driven by these massage places wishing I'd have gone there instead.

Except in many cases these "women" are not there of their own free will. SF and many cities have been cracking down on the Asian parlors due to sex-traficking/slavery issues. This is probably the reason for the recent wave in new Asian parlors in San Rafael. Do a little research. It would be one thing if these were staffed by white Marin chicks looking to make a buck to get through college, but they are not.
