Thanks Amy. I love your willingness to be open about mistakes and also having to juggle life with your children, husband and the Giants.

Love Comcast Sports Net Bay Area, too. So glad they are here in the Bay covering all that is good about this area!

She seems like a great person, but I'm sorry, it's clear there wasn't any kind of audition process for this job. It's so painful to be in the flow of a game and then suddenly feel you are watching the oprah show. Her delivery and style are not at the proffessional level. She has not earned the job and it's obvious. Look at the warriors recent new in-game reporter. That gal hit the ground running and is great. Again, probly a great person, but I'm only echoing what I've even heard other broadcasters insinuate but is not pc for them to say outright.

She's embarrassing. she's the local equivalent of those ESPN idiots, the type whose idea of an interview question is, "a win on the first game of the season, what does this mean to you?"

You three commenting (above) guys don't get it. I watch nearly every game and know baseball better than the average grandpa. The Giants have to make money. They have to appeal to all sorts of people, die-hard fans and other TV fans who watch with the family. So Amy gives a little human interest to the game. Just like Kruk and Kuipe when they show kids doing cutsie stuff in the stands. The game is not ALL numbers and rules. If moms or grandmas bond with their kids or grandkids watching games on TV, where's the harm in adding some fluff.

Relax, gentlemen, it's a game. It's about fun too!

Amy G I love you. You add a wonderful sweetness and grace to the games as the Giants field reporter. I rarely miss a broadcast of a Giants game and I have paid a lot of attention to your spots. You are getting better every day. I admire your skills as a Giants personality and as a wife and mother. You're a beauty and you have style and class. Pay no attention to the negatives. Believe in yourself.

She seems like a nice person but what counts here is the quality of the interviews and topics and Amy simply doesn't cut it. Giants have got to best Telecasters/Boardcasters in the business IMHO and there's really no need for side line reporting, however, if it was up to standard I wouldn't mine it. as it is now... it's only a distraction and I say, addition by subtraction... sorry, but she has gotta go!

no I get it alright, she probly has friends in the biz that got her the job, and you're probly one of them. The fun family connection is accomplished with the 5 year olds announcing batters for a few innings. But the stadium announcer is who?? oh ya, someone with years on the radio with an awsome voice and a pro. Amy looks like a really nice person but she sucks as a commentator and it's not looking like she has much natural talent either. Let her go announce high school and college games for 10 years and hone her craft and stop torturing giants fans and cheapening the experience. She sucks!!

@offgrid: You sound bitter. Almost vindictive. Isn't 99% of what the team/corporation does to entertain fans all serious hardcore super macho enough for you. So we have promotions and human interest items AKA "fluff".

1. kiddies run the bases after a game
2. giant puppets of kruk n kuipe.
3. giveaways like the silly snuggie blanket that they use Lincecum to advertise. Have you seen him in it in the adds? Two time Cy Young award looks like Harry Potters ugly cousin!
4. Dogs of Summer
5. Yellow rubber chickens.
6. LGBT, Irish, Latino, etc. "nights"
7. Don't forget Stich n Knit night for granny to feel involved.

Does that cheapen the experience for you too? Queers and dogs and grannies...?[*not a term of derision in my household btw]

I had nothing to do with Amy getting hired. The players seem to like her. So what if she seems a lil crazy now and then? Do you also object to Pablo's panda hats? Those are damn silly. Why don't the "cheapen" the experience for you?

Even the Chronicle has a "Family" section with recipes, gossip, gardening tips, etc. Why isn't it a GOOD business model to add some fluff and fun so the casual fans who spend lotsa money so the team can afford Lincecum in a few years? Or a big bat.

"...torturing fans..." OMG! What is your problem? Different people love the Giants for different reasons. Did you or someone you know not get a chance at her job. I have never seem Amy face to face. Curious how you seem to possibly have "insider's" information.

Is your middle name Grinch?

Now I am wondering if there is a some sort of sour grapes vendetta here. Just wondering if maybe...

Perhaps it is a matter of evolving sportsfan taste.

Remember Joe Angel? Greg Papa and Joe Morgan for some reason sometimes make me abandon TV for radio or vice versa if possible. I don't know why either. Just my opinion and preference.[How to explain Lady Gaga? Can't stand her either!]

Amy did spend almost 15 years in sports broadcasting production, so it seems she has a professional background, contrary to some whiners above.

Baseball purists may cringe at her unique style or the questions she asks, but I think if she appeals to the more casual fan and helps build the fan base, well KUDOS to her. Maybe young moms who watch the Giants with their kids and husband for family bonding identify with her. And little girls see someone they could be one day. And the purists have Jon Miller.

Just yesterday Kruk ans Kuipe were bemoaning Eugenio Valdez because he makes them crazy at times, but just as often does something so spectacular you can't believe it! But he's young, he's new. Exudes charm and enthusiasm too. Maybe sort of like AmyG.

So different strokes for different folks. Maybe we could aim more of our criticism at idiots like Padilla.

It's all so subjective. I remember when Harry Caray was out here with the A's for a year - I thought he was AWFUL. Greg Papa can seem so plastic at times. I think he was a very good basketball announcer however he is really overrated as the Raiders announcer. Kuiper is excellent, Krukow tends to be too much a homer. Joe To me, Morgan is a great analyst. Ted Robinson is very very good. I still think Amy Gutierrez is average at best - her interviews are an embarrassment (maybe not her fault, as that might be what is expected of her).

How about FP Santangelo... this homer is butchering Sportsphone and cuts off any fan that has any constructive criticism by trying to sugar coat the Giants glaring problems. too bad Marty Lurie wasn't the Sportsphone weekday replacement, at least during the baseball season but we do get him during the weekends and diamond notes when FP doing Comcast live. poor Warriors fans, on top of the hardship they got to deal with there is FP the Pre/Post game host, that's just too bad.

As long as we're evaluating KNBR andd other local sports media ... FP comes off as an over-aged frat boy. Seriously, he should not have his own show. Amy is average at best.

Ain't that the truth. he can barely hold down an interesting baseball segment half the time when he's actually talking about it. seriously, this player's perceptive that got FP in the KNBR door ain't worth much. D Bruce on nights anyone?

Damon should take over the Fitz & Brook's slot - those two are also frat boys in their outlook. Seriously, Fitzgerald is especially useless during basketball season, and Brooks has no value-added either. Damon is better than those 2 combined. I'm starting to think that Brian Murphy is a lot like Fitzgerald. Oh well .....

amy g probably has the most annoying voice ever.. and it's annoying to listen to her interviews with the giants players.. " how tough was this loss for you?" like come on now, lets get somebody on the field w better questions, interviews and not so much of a pitchy squeaky voice.

besides..being a mom and a sportscaster isn't impossible.. 2 jobs? what hollywood celebs and local celebs dont have kids and a dayjob? big whoop.

I was being a bit generous FP is A practically worthless host, he tries to stay creditable with a few token obvious neutral comments about the Giants *roll eyes* he's a total homer and a complete Sportsphone letdown. what he going to talk about during football season let alone basketball season. we know the Giants squeezed D Bruce on post game wraps but I would rather listen to him on a limited basis in evenings.

On the positive note, Marty Lurie is a total asset to the KNBR team and a pleasure to listen to, love him neutral standpoint and baseball knowledge ;)

BTW, Amy going to be here at least one more season the best you can do is just hit the mute button when she's on.
