There are as yet no precise formulas that we can use to determine the accurate dollar value per acre of wetland, but we do know that they are quite indispensable.

I'm not talking about putting a dollar value on them, I'm talking about replacing them 1-for-1 (or 2 or 3 to one, for that matter) with other wetland space around the Bay.

Just tell Target that they have to pay for the extension of Kerner, including all necessary wetland remediation, and let them get it done. I don't care how much it costs them, they'll pay it....(or abandon the project.)

I'm for anything that gets rid of Brigitte Moran.
Also, now that Novato stupidly chose to raise their sales tax I no longer want to support them.

"The people who voted against it were concerned with culture -- this big-box retailer coming to Marin." Is not Novato, part of Marin? Why do we need another Target in Marin?

And all of you who don't think that this will harm your mom-and-pop stores in San Rafael, Mill Valley and San Anselmo are wrong. This will affect all surrounding areas. It is not just about the toothpaste. It is a one stop shop, and I can guarantee that they will not trickle down into downtown San Rafael to do additional shopping.

Get used to it. Marinites are leaving. New Marinites are coming and they need dinero. Target caters to them not Gucci. Target is just reflective of the improving diversity of Marin. Hopefully, in 10 years, there will be Targets and tacquerias all over Marin as the snobby racists and their petulent over-privileged children head for Canada. Boooohahahahahahahahhaha

I addressed the San Rafael Planning Commission Tuesday night regarding the donation the Target Corporation allegedly gave to an anti-gay gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota. Following public comment, the company's project manager responded to my concerns first before dealing with other issues.

The Target representative explained that the donation to a political action committee was
intended to support business endeavors and job creation. However, the PAC gave financial support to a candidate without Target's participation in the decision-making.

The project manager also said that Target prides itself in providing domestic partner benefits. He sounded contrite and apologetic for the misunderstanding. I hope his statements really came from his heart.

I don't see this working. The Novato Target is in a big mall which includes a Costco and the mall is right off the highway. This proposal is way off the mark and I have a hunch it is just Target trying to get its rocks off. I say we do like Vermont. Target is not worthy, it is a very bad corporation. Second only to mal*mart. So no. No way. We don't need San Rafael to be milked by Target.

There are still quite a few stores in downtown San Rafael that need not worry about Target. That tennis shop on 4th is the only place in Marin I can find Fred Perry shirts. Gamescape is awesome and Target will not compete with it. The sports shop has a corner on the market and if your kid plays any sports in Marin, he/she will have to get their uniform from T&B sports. The dining places need not worry about Target... nor do the bike shops. Those botique clothing stores I doubt many ppl go to downtown to go to, more like ppl are downtown for another reason and they see it and stop it. The only real benefit I see target having that may get ppl to go there over other places is parking. Parking in downtown sucks. There is always some dirtbag with a crappy car who is trying to scam ppl saying they bumped his car and he wants compensation "see my bumper hanging down? that's cause you hit it... " reply "uh, did, your bumper has coat hangers wrapped around it to hold it up".. him "yeah, and your car touched it and broke it". Had this happen once with me and once with my parents... in both cases I said "lemme call the PD and see if they can help out" and the punk decides it's not worth it... oh.. sorry for the rant... back to business... PARKING. San Rafael parking sucks.. BTW Al... get some motorcycle parking! I'm not paying the same rate a Ford Expedition pays when i'm only taking up 1/8 the space.
