yes I am talking about you

but you are beneath me meeting

if you let your child read adult themed message boards- then you are not passing the good parent test

If you r kid reads them without your knowing- that's one thing- but to know it and ask other adults to watch what they have to say because you are a bad parent- in my opinion makes you a bad and selfish person as well

Did anyone ever go in Discount Furniture in Crewe then hear of it closing and moving to Farmville? Very smart move with the Green Front Furniture store there. I'm sure they will do just as they did in Crewe close in record time.

This "town" needs a grocery store, a company could make a killing here. Department stores to give the Dollar Store a run for it's money. They need competition. Entertainment, Restaurants. Build this place up because there is no way Crewe can go any lower but with this place you never know.

why would any business person with a grain of sense invest in nottoway after lucky 8's is being run out of business

that guy lost over $250,000 - which just goes to show you-- if you aint a good ole boy- nothing in nottoway you try will ever work out business wise

except for fast food and a car repair shop that is

Stonerman, I appreciate your taking note of my post. I have to say that I agree with much that you say. I just feel, believe, that good ole boys or not, Crewe needs services and products. There is a deep desire for a grocery store in Crewe. Companies that continue to avoid the town are moronic. I have my grave reservations about the town, too. It is so backward here. There is no middle class leadership to speak of and those in leadership positions are so inbred that it is scary. But progress has to start somewhere, even in Third World Southside Virginia. That some company has not hopped on the chance to make money here continues to blow me away. The bottom line is profit, not whether the good ole boys like you. The good ole boys have to eat. They need a grocer just like the rest of us.

guest in gladys-- there is NO way a big grocery company can make ENOUGH $$ in a town the size of crewe to justify the expense and use of resources it would take to go into business there

why do you think the stores that were there in the past went belly up?

Blackstone has two big stores- and farmville has a bunch- and a lot of people do club stores like samsclub

sorry charlie- but get used to not having an affordable place down the block to run and get milk- things there will NOT change

you seems to think that there is a TON of money to be made selling groceries in crewe- which is NOT the case! GOod luck!

Alright, then what does justify the expense?

Stores went belly up because of a bad economy and fools in this place or the owners died.

Blackstone has two stores yes, but did you ever take into account that there is a US Army Base in Blackstone where there isn't in Crewe.
For Farmille, you have a college with a load of college students.

Any place should have a grocery store. I find it a travesty that there isn't a grocery store in Crewe.

I didn't just speak of a grocery store. There is more than enough room to expand in this so called "Town"

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that there is a market that's not been met. Someone has made a judgement on this and all they have to do is go to the Dollar Store and see all the cars there with the waiting lines deep.

but in a town of 2000 people is there ENOUGH of a market to justify the expense and use of limited resources for a company to spend MILLIONS onf building a store- buying land- hiring and training a staff and stocking the store with merchandise

I THINK NOT--in Crewe

so get used to driving folks

Ok, have you taken into account that Dillwyn and Victoria have Food Lion and that town has less than 1500 people. Crewe would profit from having a grocery store. Use your mind.

CREWE would profit-- but-- would FOOD LION?

Go take an economics class and get back to me
MAYBE_-Mr Einstein- the reson WHY food lion WILL NOT go into MORE towns the size of Crewe- is because the stores they have in towns that size already UNDER PERFORM-- corporate for either losing money or not making enough money to pay back the initial investment in a timely manner

Put that in your pipe and smoke it-- and get used to driving to get ANYTHING other than gas smokes and fast food!

How do you know Food Lion wouldn't profit from not being in Crewe? Do you own stock in the Company and do you have access to the information pertaining to this? Just as I said before why would Food Lion be in a smaller Town when Crewe is a little bit larger. Some moron has made a judgement on not coming to Crewe and they are stupid over this. It just sounds like a bad business decision to me.

Food lion will never come to Crewe Norman Talor killed that 1 When he wanted $ 1,000,000.00 for the property the old star value property the hole lot and all. Only if burkville market would lower the prices more ppl would go there they do have good prices on meats. Now the Dollar store should make the store bigger and get more cash register. Now if we all would blog to them and to the Nottoway board go to meetings and speak up for what you think. We do need to look at things that would make us some money and jobs around here. Bio - fuels is a good way we have the land to grow things that can be mad into fuels. About lucky 8's thats all about the drinking and the fights that drinking brings.

I would have to agree that the deal on the lot for Star Value was shot when the price was so high. The man shot himself in the foot and everyone else with that decision. I want to see the Dollar Store (which is a funny name considering that nothing is a dollar there) have some competition. Take the wind out of the sails. On Burkeville Market, yes they do have good meat and prices on some things. I would say you are looking at this the way I am. With the people running this place I don't expect change but I do want it. It will be interesting to see what the new Mayor does.
