This coming Saturday, October 22, is Make a Difference Day – the largest national community service day in the U.S. For over 20 years, millions of Americans have united in a common mission to improve the lives of others by donating their time, efforts, and resources to this worthy cause.

This year, the Ecumenical Community Food Pantry of Norwood asks you to observe this special day by making a donation of non-perishable food, so that none of the more than 350 families we serve will go hungry. Items especially needed at this time include:

* Tuna and other canned meats
* Peanut butter
* Baked beans
* Mac and cheese
* Pasta and pasta sauce
* Canned tomatoes, paste, and sauce
* Canned or jarred fruit and fruit juices

You can bring your donations to the pantry (located at the rear of Grace Episcopal Church, 150 Chapel Street) Saturday morning, anytime between 7:30 and 11 am. Plentiful parking is available, and volunteers will be on hand to assist with carrying bundles.

If you’d rather, you can also place donations in any of the drop-off boxes at the library and local supermarkets – and sleep in Saturday, knowing you’ve done your part...and made a huge difference to your Norwood neighbors in need.

Monetary donations are also extremely welcome. Checks should be made out to “Ecumenical Community Food Pantry of Norwood” and mailed to Grace Episcopal Church, 150 Chapel Street, Norwood, MA 02062.

Join with people all across the country who’ll be making a difference this Saturday by participating in Make a Difference Day. Stop by your supermarket and buy a couple extra cans – or fill a couple extra bags – for the Norwood Food Pantry.
