I am just curious as to what folks think of our school district and some of the people who work there. Should they stay or go? I know a few wonderful teachers there at hcs.

I went to HCS and for the most part I found it to be a good district. Small class sizes made for more 1:1 and the students were more than just a number. It had the typical downfalls of a small school I.e. favortism, less resources available but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I would absolutely send my children if we were in the area.

I can not speak for his because I have never attended there but I do know the EK school district has taken an awful turn down hill. I have heard nothing but bad about EK from the top of the administration to ALOT of the employees. I will say there are some who still are great educators there and do care for the students but there are way to many that DO NOT.

HCS is an amazing school with many amazing educators and staff members. I am a graduate of HCS and I am watching loved ones get their education there now! Be involved and ask questions, but overall, you won't find a nicer small school in NNY.

I am on the fence about our school. I must say I am a very involved parent. And I am far from uneducated. I do see some wonderful educators in the school but the administration leaves a lot to be desired. I have found that the superintendent is worthless as well as his wife (exactly what is her position anyway) the principal seems to be a great needed addition to that school. The kids seem to really think highly of him. The school board definitely needs some schooling on the proper way to go about disciplining the staff when a complaint with proof is brought to them. I know a lot of parents also feel they do not do their job to the best of their ability. And seriously let's also ask what is going on with the sports program at that school? It almost seems like there is absolutely no organization to it whatsoever. I am glad that my children attend the school. The small town feel is a good thing , and the teachers my children love. But as an adult , the "politics" of the school really are horrible. And trust me I know of many parents that have been voicing their opinions to the super and board and everything seems to get swept under the desks. Why is that?

Yes, I hear a lot of negativity about EK....not sure about HCS. We have lost a lot of good employees there who cared about the kids. Now its who you know and if you kiss ass. I am so disappointed in EK and what they have done to the moral there. The BOE is being run by people who didnt even send their kids to school, they home schooled, so why are they making the decisions concerning our school....time to get out with the useless Admin. and board and get some people in there who care and have a backbone.

Yes it is at EK all in who you know and if you are in the correct group of parents who kiss ass. There are very few good employees at EK now. The students are very segregated due to the favoring of parents at the school. I have heard of some bullying going on there as well and not only between the students but the students being bullied or treated with disrespect by the staff as well. EK sports teams are also taking a down hill turn. Sad to see so much potential in these students being put down by our staff at EK.

EK has not gone down hill. I am so sick and tired of this. There is one group in our district that claims the school and it's leadership are a problem. I see it differently. Most of don't agree with this EK Watch group. They go to board meeting and do nothing but disrupt the process that is needed in order to run a district. They post videos that they think are "informative" an show "corruption" and "illegal actions". What they don't realize is they just look stupid because the questions they ask make no sense and they can't seem to focus on one topic for more than a week at a time. They do nothing but make it harder for the board, teachers and students to focus. They waste everyone's time and effort with unsubstantiated claims and efforts.

That must be why the teachers and staff are afraid of coming forward. But some have written letters to the board and hopefully will be answered. One thing you are missing here is that no one is making anything up....check out comments on the watch and see what the community is saying...
You are one and have a right to voice your opinion and that is great, this is what we would like to see...people standing up for themselves...too bad the teachers are afraid of saying anything because the ones that have are now gone...and still more to come.

Thank you. The only thing that is causing all this negativity is the Watch Group. They think they are this big bad authority group, when in reality it is just an excuse for adults to live vicariously through their children so they can feel 18 again. If they just let the administration and board do their job uninterrupted, things wouldn't be so on edge. So you didn't get your way on a certain issue, boo hoo. The administration isn't there to satisfy pointless individual needs. I don't think they realize that they created most of the problems here, which set a chain reaction. I also don't think how truly stupid they look to all the other districts. Seriously, every single person outside of the district thinks of this as some terrible comedy act.

Some comedy act??? Really??? You are clueless...we are not the only district going through this and if it were some comedy act why would the commissioner appoint an appeals number to the petition....they dont do that for comedy acts. They have enough to do, but because teachers and staff at EK have filed letters to the commissioner about the bullying and wrongful acts going on there ....they are going to investigate. No one wants EK to come back to what is was before than the Watch group...that is why it was formed. Not to get jobs back, no one wants to come back, but to eliminate the bullying and harassment from the administration. Hang tight you will see things will start to come out....it takes time when you have to go through the proper channels. Sometimes you have to muddy the waters to get things done....just like " A squeaky wheel gets noticed" so to speak. Relax they are not out to hurt anyone, just want to get EK back on track. And if you dont understand maybe you should attend board meetings and go to the school and talk to some staff members. Have a nice day!
