I really think peopel have a negative view on plainfield and it needs to stop. I live in the moosup side of plainfield and i feel its fine here. Things happen all the time in several towns around the country just some more then others. The majority of people are kind and friendly, there's not a place i can go into without people saying hi to me or holding a door open. We do have some problems but there not adressed by the proper people. For example the police in the area are as good as they should be, and thats our problem the police who dont prevent these things from happening. I know someone who lives near where the stbing was and the police are over that house like 3 time in a month. That house is a bad house and the people who live in it should be treated properly by the police no slap on the rist actual authority is needed in plainfield.

Growing up in downtown Plainfield, there were 2 soda shoppes, seney's and Bellavance's,a bowling alley,'Old Man Riley's" a hardware turned department store-at-Christmas,Salisbury's ,a 5&10 cent store,3 grocery stores, including Paul's and Brodeurs' and lady who had one in her home near he school,a pharmacy,Mercier's, a movie theater, a coffee shop, a town hall with a swimming pool and library in it,a couple of bars, including a Social club, afurniture store,Modi's,a dress shop,Yvonne's, a mens' store,Opperman's,and 2 churches,St.John and St.Paul's and 2 schools, St.John and Plainfield Grammar..just about all on the same street or block!People walked to work at on e of 2 factories, the Royal and another one, and everyone came home at noon, for lunch, even schoolchildren.

There were very few schoolbuses,as most people walked everywhere, and definitely no schoolbuses, for Catholic school kids, Mr.Frink ran a taxi for those of us who had to walk the miles from Canterbury and Packer Roads. We did get to eat lunch in the 'basement' of the school.

We created lawyers, doctors, judges and the 'common man'.

Now there is more money and more advantage, and less Plainfield.

Things have changed all over on Main St. USA..but the dogtrack and later casinos, made Plainfield just a drive-thru.

I know the people in the stabbing. And that was my old appartment. What the hell is that town coming to. I am so happy I moved away when I did. But to the person that did the stabbing " I know you did it and the cops will get you sooner or later and after all the hell your family gave us I hope its sooner. You belong in jail. Moosup was a nice town to live in til you came around." To all the people that don't know shit about the town. Its not as bad as people make it out to be.

I once lived in Plainfield, and one thing I don't miss about living in Plainfield is their Fire tax.I guess when a town has to pay extra to have their own police department, the money for the Fire department has to come from somewhere.Plainfield should cut some corners and use the larger, well funded, and more effective policing system that the rest of the state uses. You would be much "SAFER" and have more money in your pockets.
