My wife and saw the movie at Sarasota FL with only one other husband and wife in attendence. The husband, Dallas Schulte, was a 1991 graduate of Norway High. This explains why they attended. We attended because my great uncle Lars Norland was on the school board of Norway when the school was first consolitated around a hundred years ago. My great grandfather, along with Osmun Tuttle, were original pioneers of the town. I also proud to say I met Mr. Baseball from Norway IA. That was Otis Tuttle who told me many interesting stories of Norway's history.

The 'Final Season' is a great true story about baseball and how it has lasting effects on those who love the game. Norway, Iowa is a great, small Iowa town and is FULL of great baseball people. Here's to great success at the box office(I saw the film Friday with my 11 & 8 year old sons - they loved it). Sure the story is familiar, but knowing it's a true story made with plenty of great Iowans, it has a greater meaning to most of us who are tied to the heartland of America - Iowa!

My husband and I couldn't decide between this film and another, so we flipped a coin- The Final Season won the toss. It was a win-win. What a wonderful story. I hope it is true. I want it to be true. As I grow older I value more and more the attitude of small towns: children having responsibilities (chores) and still having the dedication to work at sports, and the friends and families supporting them, as this film showed. After the film, a father and son (age about 11) stayed and talked during the credits, with big smiles as they discussed this motivating story of a place to "run HOME to". We enjoyed it and wish there were more films out there that made us feel so good.
