It seams to me like the lake was and is one big tax boonedogle. All hail Neil Smith Iowa's Byrd. This dam has only provided a false sense of security.
I feel for the folks who are in harms way do to this flooding. They too are tax payers and need help.
The west side gets developed and forces the overflow to back up into the birdland area. I think that the Birdland area levees were adequate before all the development happened over the last 35 years.
