NORWALK, Conn. By CHASE WRIGHT Hour Staff Writer

A Norwalk man died Sunday after the vehicle he was traveling in crashed into a parked dump truck on St. John Street, police said.

Ramiro Umpierre, 38, succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident, which occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. in the area of 19 St. John St., Norwalk Police Sgt. Lisa Cotto said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy Monday and a spokesperson for the agency confirmed that Umpierre died of blunt head trauma sustained in the accident.

Police say Umpierre was traveling with a female driver in a Chevy Malibu sedan when the passenger side of the vehicle slammed into the rear left corner of a six-wheeled dump truck, which was parked legally on the side of the road.

there should of been no parking at that intersection its the city thats should have done somethingto make it safer.1/2 an hour before the accident myself and my kid were almsot hit head on by someone coming out of that side street. With the pickup and then the dump truck its obvious the pickup left leaving the dump, poorly lit and no room for two way traffic comfortably.Look at the history of that spot with accidents you will find a pattern.

I love next door to the accident on St. John with my young child and husband. We moved her just over a year ago and there have been 4 accidents. The first was when our parked car was nearly totaled at 2 a.m. as we slept, the second was those 2 kids hit by a car crossing from St. John to Raymond Terrace, the third was last week, when a cargo van hit the telephone pole 2 doors down from us and left the block without power for hours, and then this latest, fatal accident, just 6 days after the last one.

THE STREET NEEDS SPEED BUMPS. IT NEEDS BETTER LIGHTING. It is a main thoroughfare from E. Avenue to S. Norwalk.
