2 nites ago the director of social services Ms Isora stayed at the shelter all night- SHREDDING PAPERS! What are they trying to hide? This needs reported to the people investigating the financial dealings there.

there is no one to talk to for help there. All they do is punish punish punish. All they need is jumpsuits and it would be a jail.

Now I have heard that NES is trying to incorporate.I wonder if this is because the so called management(read mismanagement) is trying to avoid individual liability for their actions?

Question:
The shelter has spent $$$ on an elaborAte CCTV system that monitors every nook and cranny of the facility. I believe this tops even our NSA (No Such Agency). Thag being the case, how can (mis)management aver that nothing was seen, when on 1january of this year, a man calmly walked into the building though a door that was armed with an alarm and came out about 45 minutes later and WAS SEEN BY SEVERAL WITNESSES(CLIENTS-SO THEIR WORD MACHTS NICHTS).
Did MS Carole watch this 'form the comfort of her own home'? What a trip!

There is a long discussion of this on the Darien forum. It should be copied here too.

A dornor gave the SHELLter a new Caddy SUV with the caveat that uit be used for families (clients) there.(mis)Management sold the thing. This is bad as I am aure the proceeds will not benefit the clients and it ticked off the donor-for tax reasons an that the idiots did not follow is request.
What else is Carole and her henchpeople up yo now>

I donate to the place and every time I go in I am appalled at the conditions in the "common room". People jammed in together like sardines, obscene language prevalent, staff does nothing to stop it. Outside, it is safer than inside!

I stumbled on this blog while googling the shelter. I couldn’t believe what I was reading – I don’t know the reason for the blog, or who the writers/readers are, I felt compelled to share some thoughts.

I worked there for a little over a year quite awhile ago. In short, the Director was the reason I left and accepted employment elsewhere. I found her management practices to be horrendous. Her moods swung far from one extreme to the other. I would characterize her as paranoid, so I was not surprised to read that she had some kind cameras installed that link to her house. Its appalling really.

Overall I found the shelter to be structured in such a way that clients’ homelessness was enabled by policies set forth by her. For example, for clients who had income – social security or earnings – she would not allow case managers to mandate a savings plan for them. This resulted in lots and lots of money down the drain, so to speak. I don’t want to make blanket statements about residents there, but in general fiscal responsibility was not high on the priority list.

I started to think that she thought she was doing the shelter a service by keeping it full – therefore assuring continued state/city funding. Because she doesn’t have a social work or psychology background, she just didn’t understand that the best thing the staff could do there would be to help people with the barriers that put them there in the first place: addiction, incarceration, mental illness, bad relationships, whatever it was. Sadly, there will always be people to fill those beds; unfortunately in my tenure there, I saw those beds filled mostly by the same people, day in and day out.

If you can, please tell me where your investigation is at. And what’s next for this group of concerned citizens?

"We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored! To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now."

Look towards the Mayor he was heard one night telling others of his responsibility to the shelter yet no grants from his office has been even applied for.The desperate conditions grows and the situation for homeless gets no better.

Norwalk seems to vote for flavor of the month, the new crew they have in are doing back room deals everyday. Two years from now the voters would have caught on when the taxes rise to the sky amd still they will be lost.

The shelter keeps the beds full purely for the money. There were 2 recent deaths of clients- one died overnight at the shelter and one in the hospital. Staff made NO announcement whatsoever.

The place does not have anyone to help clients with job searches, money management, drug and alcohol abuse, finding housing, etc.

The upper level staff are most interested in fundraising it appears.
The day to day staff vary from great to perfect correctional officers.

For example: If you are found with a bedbug on you, YOU ARE OUT FOR GOOD- even if it hopped on you from someone else who spent their night at a crackhouse.

Want to be suspended?(Thrown out until they have a meeting about you.....perhaps). Be a female client and have a glass of water near your "bed" at night.....suspension.

Want to get sick? Breathe the air. The filters were not changed in years. No one gets a TB test on entrance, and people are coming in from other countries where TB is prevalent.

Don't eat the food- you will be ingesting grease and starch except for the lunches and some morning meals. Rice, rice, and more rice. Smooshy green beans. Chicken that bleeds.......

Caseworkers? Vary!

As do you, Reginald. Just leave my postings alone as they seem to trouble you so much you seek me out. I know you joined at Christmas and ever since, you have a nasty comment to make to me.

Bye Bye Tony,Reggie,Jar Jar Binks - one and the same.

BTW- a number of people use the same computer number I do- hence the different names with my locale....

The Shelter IS my business. And it should be all of Norwalk's business what goes on in the Shelter. There are many positive things going on- unfortunately some negative things as well. I stayed there for quite some time, and will be back.
