Can't have them Tony the Mayor of Norwalk has banned all efforts on making the city safe from anyone other than his overtime staff.

Ask about shotspotter, waste of money when you don't have anyone to respond.

This guy Duff should go to the housing complex and talk to the people there, this article along with others miss what actually transpired at the housing complex the whole day.

Nickerson is good

but the other paper fell miserably short of a story on most details

NORWALK

By STEVE KOBAK

Hour Staff Writer

Connecticut State Police recorded multiple drunken driving arrests on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, but Norwalk Police arrested their lone alleged intoxicated driver before many people even started their festivities.

William Garcia, 33, of 29 1/2 Spring Hill Ave., was arrested at 1:29 a.m. on Dec. 31 after leading Norwalk Police on a two-town, low-speed chase, which ended in the driveway of a private residence in Darien, according to police.

Garcia was charged with interfering with an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.

In addition to the criminal charges, Garcia faces four motor vehicle charges, including reckless driving. He was held on a total of $10,000 bond for the criminal and motor vehicle charges and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 11.

Officer Jordan Olivera observed Garcia's green Dodge Caravan driving on North Taylor Avenue at 1:29 a.m., and the officer could not see Garcia's license plate, police said.

He followed the minivan as it went onto Suncrest Road, then around Colonial Village and onto Connecticut Avenue, police said.

The officer saw that Garcia had a license plate but tried to pull him over, as it is illegal not to have an illuminated license plate, police said.

Garcia failed to stop and lead Olivera into the Home Depot parking garage on Keeler Avenue, back out onto Connecticut Avenue and eventually across the town line and into Darien, police said.

The suspect then headed onto I-95 South and led the officer on a chase to exit 11, all the while driving between 30 and 40 mph on the highway and swerving between lanes, police said.

Garcia finally pulled over at 20 Ledge Road in Darien, but he disobeyed continual orders from officers to raise his hands and get out of the vehicle, police said.

A Connecticut State Trooper arrived at the scene and broke out the front driver's side window in the minivan, police said. Garcia raised his hands in the air after the trooper broke his window but still did not obey orders to get out of his vehicle, police said.

Garcia was eventually taken out of the vehicle with force, and a glass crack pipe and a lighter fell out of his lap and onto the ground, police said.

After a brief struggle, officers were able to handcuff Garcia and take him into custody, according to police.

When interviewed at Norwalk Police Department headquarters, Garcia admitted to drinking beer and smoking a rock of crack prior to getting behind the wheel of his minivan, police said.

Wish it was that easy, the council mostly made up of out of touch taxpayers who have no idea what they vote on.There is no one who works with the council to research and set things up before meetings. In Norwalk there is no time to present and thik about things its here it vote or risk the chance of losing money or losing the window of opt.

Council they have now vote before they get to city hall, they do what they are told,or vote on what they are told by the Mayors henchmen.

Who else would work for nothing and sit around city hall all year and have the power to spend the taxpayers money? The system sucks.

Pay a council a wage then you would see experienced laymen and woman asking at least smart questions before a milion dollar vote.Right now its who brought the pizza or doughnuts?

A city of 100,000 with many problems, crime is one of them, fighting it is another.

salary of a council person doesn't cover gas to city hall.

This last chase the 1st of this year shows some pattern in leadership.

Probably the last time Westport helps out Norwalk. Then again Norwalk up to a six months ago didn,t have stop sticks the story is told.

Patch.com did well to bring the story to lightfeild now if the rst of the story is told it will be a Jackie Robinson home run.
