the accident was caused by an 87 year old who did not stop after she hit the young boy supposedly after going 5 mph.If the lady was going 5 mhp she would have stopped or the young boy would have had time to stop, the young boy would not have hurt his brain that severe when he fell down if the old lady was going 5 mph.
Wow, 5 mph? Thats a lie. It's impossible to cause serious injuries or death if someone got hit at 5 mph. She would've had time to stop and possibly just hit him a little. They should provoke her license. Was there any witnesses??? I swear there are so many inconsiderate drivers out there. I live on Fairford and I always see cars speeding by that street. I pass by his memorial site everyday.

My prayers are with his family during this very difficult time. RIP Jerry.

Contacted the City of Norwalk of the incident and how everyone is complaining about this intersection and an investigation will begin to see if we really need a signal light in this intersection. They say it cost about $25,000 which they said they don't have the funds for at this moment because they have a budget, but I think with the public support we can have them do something about it.
We should call the police and complain of how there aren't that many police cars roaming the area. We should get a website up for people to be aware of the incident and keep Jerry alive in our hearts so we can all update ourselves. Anyone know how to create a website??

Thank you Tears, I felt in the minority. Tomorrow at the Shakey's Pizza in Norwalk is a fundraiser. Proceeds from sales between 5 and 8PM go to help funeral expenses, just mention Jerry Q.

if more police saw how many people do not make a complete stop or just run through them they would pull over just about everyone who drives along the whole stretch of Foster Rd. I would guess that only 25% of drivers make complete stops. It is amazing. Horrible drivers down that road and in general.

instead of spending money getting a traffic signal maybe people should obey the stop signs and slow down. Getting a signal isn't going to make people drive better. They need to be ticketed each and every time they do not stop or do rolling stops.

It was not intentional but such a tragedy. My son goes to the same school as jerry and is quite upset. My prayers go out to his family and his friends.

The driver in this incident is trying to save her behind & I'm pretty sure the insurance company that insures her vehicle is trying to place blame on the child so that they will not have to pay out. The parents of this child should sue her to the limit allowed which means if she does not have enough coverage on her auto or umbrella policy go after her assets. She remembers her surrounding but she did not see child that irronic!

Everyone need to remember that this lady will have to live with this for the rest of her life. I am sure she didn't purposely run over him. I do know that if you are driving west on Foster that the sun can be very bright on your windshield and that children try to outrun cars especially if they are late getting home. If this lady needed her license taken away from her 6 years ago then the DMV is at fault for not following up on this. More than likely she could not afford to pay for the funeral costs but I am sure that if she had car insurance that the family will be compensated for that expense. All our comments and blame will never bring that child back so lets concentrate on prayers for the family and lets try to get the public safety to do their jobs by patroling these intersections.

For those who know the area where he was ran over, the actual !spot! there is a stop sign. If she would have stopped like she was suppose to have then he may not have had the injuries he had. I think she needs her license revolked and gets a bus to take her around. Just saying

I dont really care if the old lady (who will die eventually) just like everyone else in this world committed this tragedy due to the fact she wasnt paying attention or if jerry did not STOP at a stop sign. All that matters is that there is a kid whos life got cut short and tragedys like this are just a reminder that DEATH is not prejudice that all you people need to live better lifes and acknowledge that 2morow isnt promise for you or anyone even if they are newborns. so with that said we need to try to be better people and love those who we claim to love, take care of our kids, and create beautiful memories because once u die that is reallly all that is left so dont waste a day! go out and do something productive, or a kind deed because you reallly never know when you will end up in jerry's shoes or simply dead! I miss you jerry and i know we will see eachother soon <3

I literally read through every single comment. It saddens me to see such hate from strangers. It's sad to see people write "old bitch!" and cruel comments pertaining to her age. This woman was a good driver, but for the record, she never drove again after that day. It's interesting that a woman who cared for over 270 foster children throughout her entire life was involved in this tragedy. This woman cared for kids that were drug addicted, disabled, HIV positive, burn victims, etc. This is NOT a person who set out to take the life of a child. She did NOT take Jerry's life intentionally. She felt incredibly terrible about what took place that day, and trust me, she did live with it for the rest of her life. May they both rest in peace with our heavenly father... Hating someone does not get you anywhere. It won't bring Jerry back. It won't bring the woman back. God is about LOVE and we spend so much time and energy hating people, it's just not right. Jerry was a boy who was someone’s son, someone’s brother, someone’s student, someone’s friend etc. However, this woman was also someone’s friend, sister, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother etc. This woman was very involved in her community and was active at each school in that area from D.D.J.-Norwalk High. This was a good woman who did a lot for other people throughout her 88 years of life. This tragedy was officially declared an ACCIDENT. If you have hate in your heart, it will consume you, replace that hate with love. Life is not always easy, and many things occur that deeply sadden us and brings us pain. Perhaps one of the most difficult things is to lose someone you love, but instead of being angry, CELEBRATE their life! Once again, nothing can bring Jerry back, but please don't hate a woman who did a tremendous amount of GOOD throughout her life, and was a mother to over 270 people. She does not deserve to be talked about in such a negative way.

After a year of all this,i somehow came across it and it breaks my heart to even think of what this family has lived. everytime i drive by foster rd its painful. I also remember that day perfectly, somehow i decided to retour from my job and not take foster that day on my way to the store.when i finished with my five minute run to the store and drove back it was a traggic scene. I could see some of jerrys friends crying and screaming :( from across the street.horrible! I cant understand how this lady is still driving despite the families attempt to have her revoked. bottomline here is,that The problems we face here (and those that live here in norwalk, cerritos, downey areas could possibly agreee) are all these idiots that drive on these small residential streets thinking its the dam freeway! its insane! we need some crossing lights up on foster rd. i want to start some sort of signatures to get this started,at least for jerrys memory. rip.
